Francis is gone, yet it looks like Catholics still have a socialist pope. Leo does not like it that Elon Musk gets to keep so much of the wealth he created:
Pope Leo XIV is no fan of the Tesla board’s plan to possibly make CEO Elon Musk the world’s first trillionaire.
Leo, who recently became the first ever American-born pontiff, told the Catholic news site Crux that Musk’s proposed pay package was emblematic of the loss of “the value of human life, of the family, of the value of society.”
His rhetoric is straight out of The Communist Manifesto:
Leo argued that Musk’s pay was just one illustration of “the continuously wider gap between the income levels of the working class and the money that the wealthiest receive.”
People should be paid the same, regardless of what rare talents they display, how hard they work, what innovations the create, what risks they take, how many people they provide with jobs, et cetera. Then we could be like the USSR.
Leo should focus on keeping his own rather opulent house in order rather than scolding America for its economic freedom. He has not been doing such a hot job.
