So, You’re Waiting for the Rapture…You Should Quit Your Job, Right???

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Many of us are experiencing a spiritual feeling, alerting us that we will soon see the rapture take place. We have been studying scriptures, praying, and remaining open to the messages that are coming from God. We have received a witness that we will be embraced by our Savior shortly… NOW…WHAT?!?!?

Can you relate to what I have written? I certainly can. I find myself excited and a bit impatient, as the days slowly go by. Will it be today? Tomorrow? Next week?

So, I too have asked myself…”What would God have me do with my time right now. Shall I quit my job and sell everything that I have? What then?”

After much prayerful thought, I feel that God has given me the answers, which I would like to share with you.

Recently, every material thing that I own seems to have broken: My truck, boat, and brand-new washing machine. When I would fix the problem, within days, something else would break on that same thing. These were far more than just an unfortunate set of coincidences. Too many. Too often!

During this period of time, I would constantly have this thought come to my mind… ”Forget the things of this world.” Forget the things of this world? What does that mean? Seriously, what does this mean? I took this thought to God and asked Him to give me further knowledge, and to help me understand the messages that I felt He was sending me. How do I forget the things of this world, and still live my life taking care of my family?

My mind was caught up in the memory of losing my son. After he passed away, I recalled the difficult process of dealing with all of his earthly possessions. His motorcycle, 4-wheeler, truck, clothes and everything that he treasured were all left behind. Things that he had worked so hard to obtain were really of no significance to him now. Within that next year, all of those items were gone…sold or given away.. and were no more. He took none of that with him.

Additionally, I came across the following scriptures which also spoke to me:

Philippians 3:13-14

13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Colossians 3:2

2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Is this the message that I am to understand? Is God suggesting that it is time to shift my focus of where my thoughts and time should be spent? God has been important to me for most of my life. That has not changed.

So, let’s be real for just a moment. I can personally speak to the joy that some material things have brought to our family. We have shared countless incredible moments on the lake with our boat. The kids have learned skills, and the importance of developing a close relationship with family through our adventures. Good, wholesome, even Christlike behaviors have been enhanced by using some of these material things as tools to bring us close together.

Having a boat is not wrong, but for me….and you as well, we are living in a period of time where God is asking us to shift our priorities, goals, desires, and actions towards those things that are meaningful, as it relates to life after death. This shift has recently happened, and I am certain that you can relate. Can’t you see it in your own life?

Let me put it another way, which is a very realistic way to see this concept. Let’s just suppose that you have been given very little time to live. You doctor has given you such unfortunate news, and you now are faced with this same decision of, “What now?” What would you do with the final weeks, or months that you have left to live? Take a moment and even list those things that you would do on paper… Take your time…I’ll wait. =)

(Did you write something down?)

(Are you being honest?)

(Seriously, take a minute and write at least 3 things down. Yes… I know you.)

Let me share some items on my list. Perhaps they are similar to the things that you have written down:

1. Ensure that I am right with God. Repentance has been something that I do quite often, and it has renewed me through the atonement of Jesus Christ. I still sin frequently with my pesky sins of bad and confrontational words. (I finally have the big sins under control now). This is my number one objective as I live out my final days. To live as righteously as I can.

2. Show love, and spending time with family and friends. They too are going through this same process. They are experiencing God’s wake up call. They are all on different spiritual levels from one another. But with those differences, LOVE and KINDNESS speak to everyone, regardless of where they are. I will approach them through wanting to help through the problems that they are having.

It is very natural to introduce prayer to someone who’s is struggling, especially with loneliness or depression. “TEXTING” God is a communication that will bring them peace, comfort, and solutions to their problems.

3. Spending time sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others. This is where I intend to spend most of my time. I enjoy writing and choose to use this vehicle in order to reach out to others. We all have to remember …We are going through this process together. Many people are searching for the answers that you have obtained in your life. You have found the peace in Christ. You have found rebirth through the atonement of Jesus Christ, clean and pure now. You have also found joy in “Losing yourself in the service to others.” That feeling that comes from setting aside your own needs to care for others. Each one of you have people that you are involved with every day. They need YOU!

I have found great success by asking someone a two very simple questions… “How’s life?” and “What’s it like to be you, and live your life.” Within a minute or two, you will find yourself talking about that person’s greatest challenges. What? Wait, why are they telling me all of this personal information? Oh yeah, it’s because each day, I begin with a prayer asking to help me find others that need God today. God will open the doors if you just ask these questions. This person will suddenly find you as a confidant. Just let them talk and listen. You can then say, “Prayer is something that I have found to be very important to me in my life. Would you mind if I prayed for you?”

If things do not progress, you have done your part, and continue searching for others that God will assign to you. Again, we are doing this out of genuine love and compassion. Most people will not reject that. We are not trying to convert them to a church, we are trying to introduce them to a loving, kind Father in Heaven who choses to assist them in their mortal journey as well.

I have included in the title of this posting, “You should quit your job, right?” Let me address this specifically. Our jobs are necessary to provide for our family. There are also people that we work with who need us. Work provides a specific fulfillment in the lives of many. There are many righteous reasons to continue working, even given the short period of time that we have left.

Even with the knowledge that I have, I would never instruct anyone to quit their job, however, I can hope that you see my point here. Our jobs should not be our entire focus. Place it where you feel it belongs on your list, and ensure that you are spending some time doing the things that will give you a BETTER LIFE in the kingdom of God.

John 14:2

2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

This should be our focus. To strive to be Christlike, not because we have to, but because the rewards are “Out of This World.” That “mansion” that you have always dreamed of having is not going to come from the job that you are working. In fact, we have learned that we will not be taking any material thing with us when we die…So why are we placing so much of our focus on these things?

4. Pray, and Live so that I’ll be included in the Rapture.

Don’t leave this one to just HOPING that you will be included. I have actually had conformation from God which might actually be different from the feeling that you will receive. I KNOW that if God intends for me to be raptured, then I will go. I am prepared, and have done what I need to do to ensure that this happens.

I also know that if God needs me here on earth to stay and help others through the 7 year Tribulation period that He will leave me, and more importantly, lead and protect me while I serve Him in helping others. You too should do everything needed to be one that our Father in Heaven Raptures from this evil world:

*Come to know Jesus Christ as your Savior and devote your life to Him.

*Study the Atonement of Jesus Christ, and understand the sacrifice that He has done for you and me.

*Use that atonement by repenting of your sins. We ALL sin… and you are no different.

*Ask for forgiveness from God, and anyone else that you have hurt through sin.

*Be baptized.

*Live your life the Best That You Can, repenting often.

*Love and serve others.

By doing these things, your names will be written on the list that angles will find, and you will be lifted up to meet Jesus in the air during the Rapture. Your mortal journey will then be concluded, and your glory through God received.

I hope these words help you answer the question of how you should be spending your time with the understanding that we have very little time left.

So you can find peace in all of the challenge of this world through Jesus Christ. What matters to us now is helping one another simply hold on to the very end. That’s it. I’ll pray for you, and ask that you will pray for me as well. WE’VE GOT THIS!!

I look forward to meeting all of you in heaven. Can you imagine the righteous fun of cloud jumping, and living among those who are peaceful and loving? To continue learning and growing under the guidance of Christ. What a time that it will be.

I send my love and support. My Savior died for me, and I desire to do all that I can for Him, to bring the glory to God. Now, let’s get busy doing things that truly matter.

All my love,

River Wilde

The problem with things is they come to own the heart. So any radical attempt to separate from them must be resolved there. Only then do you see clearly the will of God. So how do we resolve whats in the heart?
Paul the Apostle preached the need for repentance but also deliverance. Repentance is what we do to acknowledge we fall short of the glory of God. Deliverance is what we do to save ourselves from a life time of falling short.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6lWyLwefVI
