Chicago Bears’ WR prediction is frightening news for Caleb Williams

Last year, Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams had an embarrassment of riches at his disposal, and it played a pivotal role in Williams having a very impressive sophomore campaign.

Things will be a bit more challenging for the former No. 1 overall pick heading into 2026, however.

The Bears subtracted a couple of key weapons in wide receivers D.J. Moore and Olamide Zacchaeus this offseason, the latter of whom in particular developed a pretty strong rapport with Williams dating all the way back to last year’s preseason.

Chicago didn’t really replace either of them, either. At least not adequately. The Bears signed Kalif Raymond in free agency and selected Zavion Thomas in the third round of the NFL Draft, and in the case of Thomas, many felt it was a reach.

Beyond Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III, Chicago’s wide receiver room is pretty bare, unless a surprising candidate can have a breakout season in 2026.

Anthony Miller of Bear Goggles On recently published a piece in which he predicted four Bears players who could have breakout campaigns next year, and Jahdae Walker — who went undrafted last spring — made the list.

“Walker was a great story last year as an undrafted free agent, as he made the 53-man roster. Then he had that game-tying touchdown against the Green Bay Packers in the second regular season meeting that changed his future. He now might be the future WR3 on the Bears and has a chance to be great after two touchdowns in the last few weeks of last year,” Miller wrote.

There is no question Walker is a terrific story, and he certainly flashed talent in 2025. But the fact that a former UDFA who caught just six passes all over last season could end up being Chicago’s No. 3 receiver is definitely concerning.

The Bears do have a host of tight ends in Colston Loveland, Cole Kmet and rookie Sam Roush, so that should help compensate for Chicago’s lack of proven talent at wide receiver, but let’s not kid ourselves: the wide receiver room is still a major source of contention.

For some reason, the Bears haven’t taken their receiving corps all that seriously this offseason. Odunze and Burden also both dealt with injuries in 2025, and there really isn’t any insurance behind them going into 2026.

You do have to wonder just how comfortable Williams feels given the current situation.
