温如华,1947生于北京,是中国当代硕果仅存的少数男旦京剧表演艺术家之一,一度被官媒称为中国“最后一位男旦”。
Wen Ruhua, born in Beijing in 1947, one of China’s very few accomplished nandan (male-to-female cross gender performers) performing artists in jingju (Beijing/Peking Opera) up-to-date, was once called by state-run media “the last nandan in China.”
1958年考入中国戏曲学校,主攻小生行当,后改唱旦角。1966年毕业后分配至战友京剧团任编导,展示了出色的京剧音乐才华。1982年加盟北京京剧院,任旦角主演,主攻张派(张君秋),后又研习梅派(梅兰芳)艺术,兼向南铁生、程玉菁、赵荣琛、孙荣蕙、李德富等男旦前辈问艺。力求继承男旦独有的传统风格,而又不落俗套,正所谓“取古法寓新意”。
In 1958, he started his training at The Xiqu (Chinese indigenous theatre) School of China, where he was assigned the role type, xiaosheng (young male characters) but later transferred to the role type of dan (female characters). After graduation in 1966, he joined the Comrades-in-Arms Jingju Company, where he worked as a playwright and director, demonstrating his talent in jingju music composition. In 1982, he joined the Beijing Jingju Theatre as a dan principal. Aside from his mastery of the Zhang (Junqiu) school, he has also studied the Mei (Lanfang) school, and has trained with numerous nandan performing artists, such as Nan Tiesheng, Cheng Yuqian, Zhao Rongchen, Sun Ronghui, and Li Defu. While inheriting the traditional style that nandan performers uniquely possess, he has developed his own style, demonstrating innovations using traditional techniques.
1980年代与著名剧作家翁偶虹合作,推出根据《水浒传》中《蔡家庄》改编的京剧《白面郎君》,身兼小生、青衣两个行当,在全国范围内引起轰动。
In the 1980s, he collaborated with the renowned playwright, Weng Ouhong, which resulted in the staging of a new production, White Faced Gentleman, a jingju adaptation of The Manor of the Cai’s, a story in Water Margin. With him switching between the xiaosheng and qingyi role types, the play was a mega-hit across the country.
代表剧目除了《白面郎君》,还包括《婵娟误》、《黛玉葬花》、《仇女传》、京昆合演《牡丹亭》等。
In addition to White Faced Gentleman, his representative repertoire also includes Chan Juan Wu, Daiyu Buries Flowers, The Story of Madam Qiu, and The Peony Pavilion of the Jingju-Kunqu joint version.

He was also the behind-the-scene singer for Leslie Cheung, who played Cheng Dieyi in the cinematic masterpiece, Farewell, My Concubine, for which he became good friends with the former Hong Kong super star.
