“The situation in Gaza is worse and more difficult than before. Israel occupies half of Gaza’s territory, controls the crossings, and prevents the entry of food and construction materials. They also impose exorbitant taxes on us. The end of the war is merely a deception of the world, because Israel is still bombing us, albeit at a slower pace than before. There are no decent schools or hospitals. We now live in an environment rife with disease, poverty, and hunger.”

Nadia: You might think the amount is large, and that’s true, but in Gaza, because of Israel and the exorbitant taxes imposed on the residents, the amount isn’t large anymore. I can afford some food, vegetables, milk, diapers for the children, and medicine for my mother. This amount is enough for five days.
RPK: So basically you, your children and mother live on 600 Euros a month for basics?
Nadia: This amount is roughly enough for basic needs under normal circumstances, but honestly, in a time of war and inflation, it’s not enough.
RPK: How do you get drinkable water?
Nadia: UNICEF used to provide clean water; water trucks would come and we would fill several gallons. But now UNICEF has stopped providing free water, and a 20-liter gallon of water costs one dollar.
