His Name is Jesus...The Only Begotten Son of God — Via the Wayfaring Gal (8/17/2025)
His Name is Jesus…The Only Begotten Son of God — Via the Wayfaring Gal (8/17/2025)
I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. (Ps 2:7)
For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? (Heb 1:5)
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. (1John 4:9)
I think I spend more time praying to the Lord, asking for help either for myself or others than I do giving Him praise. And while I always give Him thanks for all He has done for me, I don’t feel I spend as much time honoring Him as I should. I think that’s why I found myself drawn to make the lyric video below, based upon Phil Wickham’s song “His Name is Jesus.”
The Bible is full of people praising God, especially in the Psalms, in ways I never really have:
Ps 113:1-3:
Praise ye the LORD. Praise, O ye servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD. (Ps 113:1)
Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time forth and for evermore. (Ps 113:2)
From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD’s name is to be praised. (Ps 113:3)
Ps 117:1-2:
O praise the LORD, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people. (Ps 117:1)
For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endureth for ever. Praise ye the LORD. (Ps 117:2)
Before I became a follower of Jesus, I would only pray to God in moments of complete despair; and once my troubles were past, I would just go back to my heathen ways until the next calamity; never giving much thought about how fortunate I was to even be alive.
Over the past 26 years I have come to the realization that the Lord has been with me all along—watching over me—waiting for the appointed time to call me out of the world; just as I am sure there is an appointed time of judgment when Jesus will come and reveal His divine love to me.
He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. (John 14:21)
Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; (1Pet 1:13)
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. (Rev 3:20)
Even when I was in my mother’s womb, my Mama said they were ready to give me a complete blood transfusion because her Rh Factor changed during her pregnancy, but apparently the Lord had other ideas.
All the way until this very time in my life He has been watching over me. Ten years ago the doctors all said I needed to get my affairs in order because I didn’t have long to live (Stage-4 COPD). But once again, apparently the Lord had different ideas because I’m still here, and the Lord is still dealing with me.
Surely, if that weren’t the case Satan would have killed me long ago.
It’s not that I’m anything special, but somehow the Lord knew I would be able to understand the true salvation gospel of Jesus Christ. Entering in at the strait gate and walking down the narrow way has been quite a journey; which, I believe, has led me to the lowest room.
And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left. (Isa 30:21)
Matt 7:13-14:
Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: (Matt 7:13)
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (Matt 7:14)
The “lowest room”…the mysterious place where Jesus told us to go sit and wait patiently for Him…in obedience to he that bade thee…
Luke 14:8-10:
When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him; (Luke 14:8)
And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room. (Luke 14:9)
But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee. (Luke 14:10)
There are so many people who think they are saved right off, when all they really are is “converted” and not yet authentically “regenerated”; conflating those two terms is deadly.
Jesus plainly says the Narrow Way leadeth/leads to life; it’s not instant at all. There is a journey—a pathway—involved, says Jesus.
A simple word study on “way” confirms this:
way is Strong’s #G3598 ὁδός hodos (ho-d̮os’) n.
- a road.
- (by implication) a progress (the route, act or distance).
- (figuratively) a mode or means.
[apparently a primary word]
KJV: journey, (high-)way
It reminds me of a dream I had so many years ago about this narrow way. I believe it was the Lord showing me just how long it might be and how I will need patience and endurance to see me through.
Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit. (Eccl 7:8)
Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. (John 6:27)
Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. (Jas 1:12)
I know that God the Father and His dear Son Jesus Christ are good for their word, so I look to all the promises they have made and will do my very best to be obedient to their commands as I journey on, waiting for the revelation of Jesus Christ.
For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. (Hab 2:3)
For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. (Heb 10:37)
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: (Phil 1:6)
Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; (1Pet 1:13)
And so, I wait…occupying, redeeming the time, looking and hoping for the glorious appearing of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come. (Luke 19:13)
Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; (Titus 2:13)
His Name Is Jesus | Phil Wickham | Lyrics:
I pray that those who watch the video will feel as blessed as I was during the making of it. It is only by the grace of God that we have a strait gate and narrow way to walk.
I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned thy righteous judgments. (Ps 119:7)
Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law. (Ps 119:18)
Lyrics
His Name Is Jesus
The King is in the room
Come see the scars of love upon His hands
The King is in the room
We’ll watch the darkness flee at His command
Who is this King?
Who is this King?
His name is Jesus
His name is Jesus
Light of the world
There’s freedom in His name
Awesome in power
Reigning forever
Light of the world
There’s freedom in His name
The Healer’s in the room
Let miracles break out across this place, O oh
The Saviour’s in the room
No soul beyond the boundaries of His grace
There’s resurrection power in His name
And His name is Jesus
His name is Jesus
Light of the world
There’s freedom in His name
Awesome in power
Reigning forever
Light of the world
There’s freedom in His name
There’s freedom in His name
Oh there’s freedom in His name
There’s never been a love so great
He died so we could live
He rose up from that grave
Name another King like this
Now all authority
Forever belongs to Him
He reigns in victory
Name another King like this
There’s never been a love so great
He died so we could live
Then He rose up from that grave
Name another King like this
Now all authority
Forever belongs to Him
He reigns in victory
Name another King like this
Yeah…
Name another King like this
Who is this King?
His name is Jesus
His name is Jesus
Light of the world
There’s freedom in His name
Awesome in power
Reigning forever
Light of the world
There’s freedom in His name
And His name is Jesus
His name is Jesus
Light of the world
There’s freedom in His name
Awesome in power
Reigning forever
Light of the world
There’s freedom in His name
There’s never been a love so great
He died so we could live
Then He rose up from that grave
Name another King like this
Now all authority
Forever belongs to Him
He reigns in victory
Name another King
There’s never been a King like this
There’s never been a King like this
Oh….His name is Jesus
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)
Amen.
