You are invited to join national Black leaders for the National Mobilization Against Genocides in Atlanta on July 4, 2026

As Salaam Alaikum! Revolutionary Greetings!

We are Jalil Muntaqim and Ashaki Binta, national co-coordinators of the National Mobilization Against Genocides, July 4, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia’s WEST END PARK. We are introducing you to this national mobilization because it is believed you and/or your organization fully understand the nature of the genocidal attack Black, Brown and Indigenous people have suffered in this corporate entity called the United States of America. At no time during the 500 years of Indigenous genocide, Afrikan enslavement and LatinX colonialism/occupation have people not suffered and fought to obtain every civil and human right afforded us by virtue of our resistance to white supremacy and capitalist super-exploitation. 

On July 4, 2026, this now racist-fascist government will be celebrating 250 years of its “independence” – really racial genocide and exploitation in negation of our struggle and resistance. They will seek to consolidate and strengthen their Project 2025 agenda of erasure and denial of Black, Brown and Indigenous peoples, and their promotion of white-christian nationalism and fascism. We, and our histories of resistance, will not be celebrated at their July 4, 2026, events! Let us be certain of that reality! 

Subject to the findings and decision by the 2021 International Tribunal on Genocide (https://www.youtube.com/watch) the esteemed body of International Jurists declared that the United States government has been engaged in the practice of genocide against Black, Brown and Indigenous peoples. The Spirit of Mandela Coalition (www.spiritofmandela.org) has therefore decided to remove ourselves from future harm and genocidal trauma. As part of this development of securing our lives against the continued onslaught of the white-christian nationalist Project 2025 agenda, we are organizing the National Mobilization Against Genocides, July 4, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia, to celebrate our 250+ years of resistance against white supremacy and genocide. 

In this regard, Jihad Abdulmumit, chair of the Spirit of Mandela Coalition, has forwarded this proposed platform for the National Mobilization Against Genocides, which we are introducing to you for your active participation and support: 

Today’s reading of the United States Declaration of Independence leaves little to celebrate. The forefathers of the USA called to dissolve the political bonds that connected their new colonies to the British empire. However, the masses of people living here, created equal in the eyes of God/Allah/the Great Spirit, were in no way treated equally or free by those who proclaimed this land to be the “United States.” The truth is this country had replaced the British empire with another even more genocidal one. 

Although many “Americans” on July 4, 2026, will wave flags and celebrate “bombs bursting in air” for the 250th anniversary of the USA’s Declaration of Independence, for many others, the relevance of the Declaration will be centered on a critique of tyrannical leaders and a government celebrating 250 years of genocidal policies and practices. 

The Spirit of Mandela Coalition, continuing the work of the 2021 International Tribunal that found the US government GUILTY OF GENOCIDE against Black, Brown and Indigenous Peoples (spiritofmandela.org), will commemorate 250+ years of consistent resistance. We will celebrate the building of new people’s movements, united fronts, international alliances, and local initiatives fiercely combatting modern genocide, imperialism, white supremacist oppression and injustice. 

The 19th century abolitionist Frederick Douglass asked, “What to the Slave Is Your Fourth of July?” (https://masshumanities.org/programs/douglass/). In the legacy of Crazy Horse, Rev. Nat Turner, Gabriel Prosser, Denmark Vesey, Harriet Tubman, Lolita Lebron and all the freedom fighters throughout history, we respond by taking this moment to redouble our efforts to build and connect mass and popular movements that are truly of the people, by the people, and for the people. The Spirit of Mandela’s work to build a Peoples’ Senate is a continuum, an integral part of this historic process of resisting the USA’s genocidal policies against Black, Brown and Indigenous peoples and oppressive actions worldwide. We invite you to help us build the Peoples’ Senate. 

In light of the courageous and continuous history of resistance and freedom struggles, the Spirit of Mandela Coalition, in pursuit of building the Peoples’ Senate, is calling for a 4th of July 2026 National Mobilization Against Genocides.

On July 4, 2026, we will convene, along with many allies and friends, including Cooperation Jackson and the Community Movement Builders, a grand national convergence in Atlanta, Georgia. We will have culture and conversation, dancing and debate, building unity across ideological lines and beyond geographic and other boundaries. Centered under the leadership of, but not exclusive to, our Black Panther/Black liberation legacy, we will convene to proclaim: No to Genocide Anywhere! Yes to People’s Movements and Liberation Everywhere!

In the Spirit of all our many Mandelas, let us once again raise the rallying cry: “Amandla! Awethu!” In English, that has always meant “Power to the People!”

PROPOSAL 

INTRODUCTION: This mobilization will involve dozens of national and local community organizations, tribal Nations and religious institutions, with the intent of providing enriching political education intermixed with lively activities and entertainment. 

EVENT: National Mobilization Against Genocides and Celebration of 250+ Years of Resistance by Black, Brown and Indigenous Peoples 

DATE: Saturday, July 4, 2026 

TIME: 12 p.m. – 9 p.m., WEST END PARK (464 Dargan Place SW, Zip 30310) 

PROGRAM ACTIVITIES: Opening ceremony with Indigenous welcoming, Muslim and inter-faith prayers, the Black National Anthem; African drums. 

Followed by a day of brief local and national guest speakers including celebrities, athletes, union representatives, etc. (all presentations are approximately five minutes each); cultural presentations including music, dance, theater, poetry, prose etc. Vendors with food, educational materials, and more will be on hand. 

The ultimate task moving forward is to develop a national network of progressive resisters to the white-christian nationalist racial-fascist agenda and to devise alternative systems of governing by the people for the people (a Peoples’ Senate). This national convergence of progressive forces is necessary to build a substantial resistance movement that has the basic foundation of an united determination to ensure our victory against racial-fascism. It is our sincere hope you and your organization understand the dynamic of this national determination and will actively join in this rebuilding of a national resistance movement.
