A woman historian, Thokozile Mshengu Tshabalala, has spoken openly about the atrocities committed against black South Africans, one of her videos attached to this article sheds light on this dark chapter. What apartheid was doing to black South Africans I term it cultural genocide. They were deliberately concentrating blacks in small, congested areas to destroy their values, morality, dignity, perceptions, and culture. This systemic effort has had lasting effects on Africans for many decades to follow.
The hidden ambition of apartheid was to destroy Africans so that they would never rise in politics and economics. Drugs were used by the apartheid government as a weapon to erode the moral fabric and values within the black community. Beyond the direct killing and jailing of innocent people, the apartheid regime committed many terrible acts to suppress and marginalize the black population.
What is desperately needed now in South Africa is unity among all races, dismantling corruption, creating jobs, and removing discrimination or favoritism of any race in what should be a genuine effort to correct past injustices. The call is to create jobs for all people and to bring back the death penalty against capital offenses. No investor will want to come into a country where crime is rampant, where peace is scarce, and where people kill each other too often.
The law must be ruthlessly enforced against crime. We must all have the spirit to do good to others. Poverty is driving many into corruption and crime. The future of the country will be questionable if we do not rise up against evil in our midst. Let us not give up doing charity to others while simultaneously fighting against institutions that ravage the poor.
