URGENT Manhunt Underway for Arizona Suspect Who Threatened to Shoot Trump During Border Visit
Arizona law enforcement has initiated an urgent search for a suspect accused of threatening to shoot former President Donald Trump during a planned visit to the southern border on Thursday.
The suspect, 66-year-old Ronald Lee Syrvud, is wanted in connection with an alleged plot to assassinate Trump during his appearance in Cochise County, Arizona, a region known for its vulnerability along the southern border.
This incident follows an earlier attempt on Trump’s life six weeks ago, during which a bullet grazed his ear at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Authorities have revealed that Syrvud is also wanted on multiple other charges, including a DUI and failure to appear in court in Wisconsin, as well as charges in Arizona for failing to register as a sex offender and a felony hit and run.
As Trump prepared to speak at the border, Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels told DailyMail.com that security measures have been heightened in response to the threats. He emphasized that the event would take place in an “open venue,” increasing the potential risk.
Syrvud is described as six feet tall, weighing 220 pounds, and wearing glasses. His last known address is in Benson, Arizona.
While the specific details of the threats remain unclear, Sheriff Dannels confirmed that they were received through social media channels.
“We have zero tolerance for threats or violence, and we will locate him. He’s going to jail,” Dannels stated. “He’s a registered sex offender here in Cochise County and has been non-compliant with his obligations. We’re actively searching for him due to those violations, but his recent behavior has escalated our concerns.”
Dannels also mentioned that security preparations have been ramped up, with Secret Service snipers already stationed on a crane to monitor the area closely.
The alleged plot was reportedly aimed at Trump’s upcoming visit to Sierra Vista, an area his campaign has visited before. Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, toured the region three weeks ago, highlighting its security challenges and labeling it a “smuggler’s paradise.”
Arizona officials believe Syrvud is still in the border region and are intensifying efforts to apprehend him before Trump’s arrival.
In a post on Truth Social on Wednesday, Trump announced that he would address the “plague of migrant crime that the so-called Border Czar, comrade Kamala Harris, has unleashed on America” during his visit.
