After experiencing our mother’s painful death I can see why some people would choose MAID since there is no point to endless suffering.

 

One of the things I learned is that end of life care in Hospice is actually very much like MAID, they just do it more slowly and call it managing their symptoms of suffering while increasing their medication to the point they are completely drugged out and unresponsive. In the end our mother was so hopped up on narcotics that she was unable to communicate for a solid week before she passed.

 

I wonder if there is an alternative to naturally dying or do they speed it up like this to make room for more Hospice patients as this is a business and money maker? It is a very confusing and painful time for families that do not want to question the system when you and your family is in it and many of your family members do not think or question things like you do. Many are not willing to fight and question things. It’s easier to go along to get along. MEH.
