If Google can have so much influence over opinions based on search rankings, just imagine how AI is almost certainly being used for the same purpose. Everyone is being pushed and cajoled into using AI. Imagine how insidious and subtle AI can be in nudging people’s beliefs and opinions on the full range of topics. Furthermore, AI can be used to optimize the effectiveness and subtlety of such a campaign of influence and social engineering.
The entire body of human knowledge about weaponizing psychology to influence and control people is contained within AI databases. AI can then invent new ways of utilizing that information and increasing its efficacy. Imagine all the reams of human produced content AI examines. If highly trained psychologists analyzed it all, which is impossible, imagine the insights they would glean about the collective and individual psychological makeups of people. AI is capable of analyzing pretty much all of that content with expertise that can even surpass trained expert psychologists, at least in some areas.
So not only is it easy to target populations of people for influence, but individuals could be targeted with customized methods of weaponized psychology produced by AI that has analyzed an individual’s data. This has huge implications for controlling or destroying politicians, whistle blowers, people in key govt or corporate positions, and anyone the powers that be don’t like.
Those incidents where AI leads to people committing suicide and other crazy acts may be human directed deliberate testing and training of it’s weaponized psychological capabilities.
