There are many scenarios that can be divided into two main categories: Crimes are hidden or crimes are revealed. Of course they can easily redact, lie, and cover up virtually anything. The best we can do in that scenario is make them pay as steep a price as possible, draining their political capital and holding negative sentiment against them.
If much is revealed leading to prosecutions and removals from office, there will be outrage and loss of trust in the govt and institutions. This scenario may be used to usher in a new system of govt that is deemed impartial, incorruptible, and without ulterior motives. AI may be given a much larger role in governance and surveillance.
