Is Trump Hanging Europe Out to Dry on Ukraine?

As it became known following five hours of tense negotiations with the American delegation inside the Kremlin’s stone walls, one issue, unsurprisingly remained a gaping wound, the territorial question.

And Washington, true to form, came with its recycled 28 point plan.

Dusting off pages from the 28-point “Trump Plan,” the Americans tried to secure their much needed offramp by proposing what they thought they could sell Putin on, that Russia would hand over the Kinburn Spit to Ukraine and the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) to international management, we know what that means. In the U.S. version of this fantasy, the ZNPP would first be placed under “international administration” — which in real terms means Western technocrats, backed by NATO boots in suits, and then quietly gifted to Kiev.

But it gets worse.

Also proposed was a “territorial swap.” The details remain shadowy, but the core was clear: Russian troops would “immediately” withdraw from the regions of Kharkov, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, and Nikolaev (including the Kinburn Peninsula), while Ukraine might, at some later unspecified date, consider exiting the Donbass. In plain English: Russia gives up what it won. Ukraine regains some of what it lost.

They tried, with straight faces, to convince President Putin to accept it. But this is not December of 2021, and Russia is not in the mood. For Moscow, the era of “goodwill gestures” is over.

Putin has spoken at length about March–April 2022, when Russian troops voluntarily withdrew from Kiev, Sumy, and Chernigov, hoping for good-faith talks.

Russia stepped back. What came next?

•A Western double-cross.
•MI6 and CIA sabotage.
•NATO supply lines flowing like blood.
•Drone terror in the Black Sea on civilians ships.
•British naval hands all over Ukrainian ops.

What Moscow got was not peace. It got escalation.

So today, when the same empire that burned that bridge returns with another offer scribbled on the ashes, Russia listens but continues her advances.

Let’s give credit where it’s due. You can’t blame Trump for trying.

He needs the deal more than Russia. The war is a humiliating albatross, the neocons are waiting to knife him, and a mystical third term cannot be built on a slow-motion proxy failure in Europe. But Trump’s genius, when it exists, lies not in strategy, but in optics. He needs the off-ramp. But he also needs to offload the humiliation. And who better to carry the blame than Europe?

The very vassals who begged for this war now get to carry its corpse.

And so this proposal — this Trump Plan a la Minsk 3.0, was never about peace. It was about optics. Washington needed Moscow to throw it a lifeline so that Trump could save face and walk away, with Europe wearing the humiliation and corpse of project Ukraine. But they underestimated one thing: Russia isn’t desperate. America is. And Russia has time.

Meanwhile, the Russian army isn’t waiting on signatures. It’s redrawing the front lines in real time. Over the past week, 14 square kilometers were taken east of Stepnogorsk, flattening Ukrainian fortifications and tightening the axis toward Zaporozhye. Gulyapole is now fully encircled, with intense combat underway to finish its liberation. Opening the gates to the city of Zaporozhzye. Advances continue across the Donetsk People’s Republic and Kharkov Oblast, including steady movement south of Vovchansk, where Ukrainian defenses are crumbling.

This isn’t symbolic. It’s strategic, methodical pressure applied across multiple axes, designed to collapse the front, not shock it. Where the Trump is staging optics, Russia is building facts on the ground, one fortified trench at a time.

The Americans want an exit. The Europeans want a sedative, but they’ll wear the humiliation and the corpse of project Ukraine.

It’s the end of an era.

The empire came with demands. Russia replied with destiny.

And in the end, the pen will sign what the battlefield already sealed.
