On February 23, 2025, Alabama Daily News reported, “New FBI Director Kash Patel plans to move up to 1,500 workers out of Washington”.

The shadowy story was un-sourced.

WASHINGTON (AP) — New FBI Director Kash Patel has told senior officials that he plans to relocate up to 1,000 employees from Washington to field offices around the country and move an additional 500 to a large bureau facility in Huntsville, Alabama, according to a person with knowledge of the discussions.

The FBI already has a large presence at facilities at the Redstone Arsenal outside Huntsville. According to the bureau’s website, the FBI has had a presence there for more than 50 years and that 1,300-plus personnel are already working there in various roles.

The ASSOCIATED PRESS report said, “The person who discussed Patel’s vision did so on condition of anonymity to describe plans that have not been made public”.

As you walk around the campus, what sound like large explosions ring out every few hours from distant corners,” Popular Mechanics said.

“Today is a homemade explosive lab, tomorrow morning’s gonna be a suicide bomber, and tomorrow afternoon will be a car bomb,” says Ed Marshman, a burly former FBI agent with a white goatee who is now an HDS instructor. “Thursday will be a WMD,” Popular Mechanics said.
