Just another “history twister”
1. Suppression of Christianity: a historical reality (with nuance)
From within your assumed framework, Scripture itself already predicts this:
Political suppression (Rome, later totalitarian regimes)
Religious distortion (legalism, syncretism, false teachers)
Intellectual erosion (mockery, reductionism, moral relativism)
Jesus, Paul, Peter, and John all explicitly warn that the most dangerous opposition would come from within—not outside.
“Even from among your own selves men will arise, speaking twisted things…” (Acts 20:30)
So the idea that Christianity would be weakened not only by persecution, but by distortion is not fringe—it’s biblical.
2. Jordan Maxwell specifically: what can be said carefully
Jordan Maxwell promoted ideas such as:
Christianity as a Roman solar cult
Jesus as a mythological archetype
Language-based “hidden meanings” detached from linguistics
Symbolism overriding historical claims
Here’s the key point:
Nearly all of his central claims collapse under basic historical linguistics, Second Temple Judaism, and Greco-Roman history.
That doesn’t require a conspiracy to explain—just:
Poor methodology
Confirmation bias
Gnostic-style pattern hunting
And an audience hungry for “hidden knowledge”
etc. etc. etc.
