On November 26, 2025, the Tennessee publication Clarksville Now reported that U.S. Vice President JD Vance traveled to Fort Campbell, Kentucky to address the 101st Airborne.

Vance highlighted remarks made by U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth delivered previously at Quantico. “Do unto yours as you would have done unto your own child’s unit,” emphasizing stronger expectations within the military, Clarksville Now reported.

“He was talking about the importance of bringing the highest standard possible to the United States Army,” Vance said. “We believe in you so much – we believe in your mission so much – that we know that you guys can meet the highest standards in the world.”

Vance’s somewhat reserved praise of Fort Campbell created questions in the mind of the listener for a reason.
