Breaking: Two Pilots Dead After Plane Collides With Vehicle at LaGuardia Airport (Video)

Two pilots were killed at New York’s LaGuardia Airport late Sunday night, 22 March 2026, when an Air Canada Express jet collided with a Port Authority fire truck on the runway. One of the deceased pilots has been identified as Antoibe Forest, described by officials as a young man at the start of his career. The plane was a Bombardier CRJ-900 operated by Jazz Aviation on behalf of Air Canada Express, arriving from Montreal with 72 passengers and four crew members.
At least 41 people were hospitalized. This included dozens of passengers and the two officers in the fire truck, who suffered broken bones but are in stable condition. A flight attendant was found alive still strapped into her seat, which had fallen through a hole in the aircraft floor during the impact.
The jet was completing its landing at speeds estimated between 93 and 105 mph when it struck the fire truck. The impact “obliterated” the front of the aircraft, severing the cockpit. The fire truck, manned by two Port Authority police officers, was responding to a separate incident involving a United Airlines flight reporting an “issue with odor”.
Audio recordings captured a controller frantically shouting ”Stop, stop, stop!” to the truck just before the crash. One controller was later heard saying, ”I messed up,” indicating he had been focused on the other emergency.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the FAA are conducting a full investigation into the coordination between air traffic control and ground vehicles.
