Being the Official Patron of the Arts at The British School – Al Khubairat, Dr. Hamed Al Suwaidi has assumed a colossal job in empowering art education and developing a culture of creativity among pupils. Dr. Al Suwaidi is additionally the Abu Dhabi Patron of the National Portrait Gallery in London. He frequently drives endeavors to encourage closer social and cultural interaction between the UAE and the UK. Dr. Al Suwaidi is known to effectively promote the work of art created by bestowed artisan and craftsmen. The Abu Dhabi Art Society keeps on supporting numerous occasions for young generations. The non-profit association funds various shows around the year for both the local and international artisans. The British School – Al Khubairat (BSAK) yearly art exhibition is one great example of globally recognized events organized by the art patron Dr. Al Suwaidi.

“My intense passion for arts and culture drove me to build up The Abu Dhabi Arts Society (ADAS) in May of 2013. ADAS intends to develop the cultural identity of Abu Dhabi. I expect this platform to encourage comprehensiveness in the local art network and create bridges to form social associations between Abu Dhabi and the world,” expresses Dr. Al Suwaidi.

 The one of a kind art exhibition appreciates the masterpiece of arts crafted by the young striving artisans. It provides a stage to highlight a great scope of fine arts from students of various excellent art institutions.

“Such initiatives aim to bridge the gap of communication between communities through international plastic art, highlighting Renaissance art and participating in the revitalization of the arts movement in the region, in order to contribute to raising the level of culture in the Arab world,” says Dr. Al Suwaidi. He added that Britain’s choice of this important event is the result of close relations with the Arab world over many years.

Additionally, ADAS has played a significant role in promoting Emirati arts and culture globally. One of the ventures housed by ADAS was the production of the first-ever Emirati tartan. Planned by Ken MacDonald and Dr. Al Suwaidi, this tartan comprises the conventional Pan-Arab hues that structure the UAE’s national flags, which was embraced on December 2, 1971. The hues (red, green, white, and dark) consolidate to frame and represent Arab solidarity.

The planner who initially made the UAE flag was propelled by verses of a sonnet depicting resident acts with white speaking to harmony and honesty, fields as green reflect trust, goodness, and farming, fights as black draws quality of brain, endurance, and force. Swords as red represent courage and power. The tartan was planned in a balanced way to promote equality and significance to every shading and what it represents. Indeed, a work of art and mind combined to produce a masterpiece!

“Enveloping visual arts, poetry, and music, ADAS intends to spark light on conventional and rising artists from the locale and unite a network of craftsmen, authorities, researchers, and devotees for private occasions, parties and openings, says Dr. Al Suwaidi.
