The president is expected to say that acetaminophen, the most commonly used pain reliever during pregnancy, should only be used for high fevers.
Trump plans to announce Monday that using Tylenol during pregnancy could contribute to autism risk and will advise pregnant women only to use it, or generic acetaminophen, for high fevers, two senior administration officials told POLITICO.
The officials, granted anonymity to share details of the announcement in advance, said Trump would also highlight leucovorin, a cancer and anemia drug, as a potential therapy for people with autism.
On Friday, Trump said he would have a big announcement on the neurological condition soon: “Autism is totally out of control,” he told reporters. “I think we, maybe, have a reason why.”
