No One Knows…

Theology and Politics from a Conservative, Biblical Perspective

Listen to this article

In today’s world of constant upheaval, it seems people are coming out of the woodwork claiming that they have seen visions or dreams that tell them when the Rapture is going to happen or the Tribulation is supposed to begin. One such video was sent to me by a friend who was concerned. He ultimately knew that what was stated in the video was not really true because he was mindful of the fact that Jesus warned that no one knows the day or hour. Yet, in the particular video he sent me, the guy claims that the Tribulation will begin this September on a feast day and end in 2032 on the Day of Atonement.[1] He of course, uses math to get to that point. For anyone interested, the link below will take you to that nearly 13-minute video (Medic4Christ).

There are numerous problems with the guy’s calculations as well as his premise. He states he is basing his opinions on another guy named “Joshua” from Africa. He first states he is always leery, but Joshua seemed to make sense to him so he took what Joshua said and reiterated it in his own video. A quick look at the comments reveals that many are onboard with this guy.

Medic4Christ talks about the length of the Tribulation and how it is broken into two parts of equal length; 1260 days/42 months/3 1/2 years. Then he talks about the 1290 days, which is 30 days more than the 1260 days (Daniel 12:11). He includes those extra days as part of the Tribulation. But I thought he said the two halves of the Tribulation are of equal length?

He is simply not correct. The extra 30 days occur after the end of the Tribulation and many conservative scholars believe this to be a time of “clean-up” in Jerusalem in preparation for the start of the Millennial Kingdom, ruled over by Jesus Himself.

Now in Daniel 12:12, an extra 75 days are mentioned, which Medic4Christ does not refer to in his dialogue. So why 75 extra days? It is likely more preparation for the start of the Millennial Kingdom. Jesus will return to this earth and destroy the works of Satan. He will capture Satan and toss him into the bottomless pit for 1,000 years (the length of the Millennial Kingdom). Other things will also occur prior to the start of the Millennium like the judgment of the nations in Matthew 25. This could also occur at the very start of the Millennium once Jesus is seated as King of the world.

Medic4Christ believes that 1260 + 1290 days equals the full length of the Tribulation and he then starts figuring out the length of time between one feast and another feast on the Jewish calendar. He arrives to the point that the Tribulation will start this September 20, on the Feast of Trumpets 2025 and end on the Day of Atonement, September 2032. Which calendar is he using, the ancient Jewish calendar of 360 day years or ours of 365 day years?

Again, the problem here is the fact that the Tribulation is not 1260 days plus 1290 days (for the first and second half). The Tribulation is exactly seven years and that is based not on our 365 day calendar but on the Jewish calendar of 360 days. Even though a day is a day of 24 hours, there is a difference of five whole days between the old Jewish calendar and the calendar we use today per year.

But let’s also consider what Jesus Himself said about knowing the specific dates.

“But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. (Matthew 24:36)

I’m not sure what could be more clear. Jesus is saying no one (not even angels or Jesus), will know the DAY or HOUR, yet God is apparently going to tell human beings?? How ridiculous.

Here we are (again), with some folks telling us exactly which day the Tribulation will begin. How is that possible? Satan, pure and simple. Satan wants us confused, he wants us leaning on signs and wonders and he wants us off-center biblically seeking He wants us focusing on signs, not Jesus.

I mentioned that Medic4Christ did his video after he learned of a guy named Joshua from Africa. He has a link under his own video that is Joshua’s video. That video is titled “The Date for the END OF THE WORLD.”

If you go to this link[2], you’ll see a list of videos with many related to this Joshua (Mhlakela) that Medic4Christ refers to and interestingly enough, there are so-called “prophets” who confirm what Joshua is saying, that ultimately, the Rapture will occur this September in just a few months. Clearly, if you are Premillennial, you believe as I do that the Rapture occurs prior to the start of the Tribulation period.

The particular “prophets” who are confirming Joshua’s prophecy seem to be part of NAR (New Apostolic Reformation). That group believes that there are hundreds of people alive – both men and women – who are actual apostles (having the same authority as the original 12) – and prophets (with the same authority as the prophets of old). They spout their “prophecies” and the gullible cling to them.

Jesus, Paul and others warned that in the last days there would be great deception.

Matthew 24:24
For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.

1 Timothy 4:1
But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons,

2 Timothy 4:3-4
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.

2 Thessalonians 2:3
Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction,

This is exactly what is happening throughout society today. Many within the visible Church have become preoccupied and enamored with the whens; when will this happen? when will Jesus return? When will the Tribulation start? etc., etc., etc.

While it is absolutely fine to study prophetic portions of Scripture, we are not to go beyond what the Bible tells us and when Jesus clearly states that we cannot know the day or hour of His return or when certain things will occur, we need to take that literally. Yet, apparently, Joshua believes God told him that the Rapture is going to happen this September followed immediately by the start of the Tribulation.

Is Jesus a LIAR is He? Do these people realize what they are saying or implying? Jesus is NOT a liar. Yes, it is possible that the Rapture could occur this September, but God will not preannounce it to anyone!

People like Joshua and those who follow him are best ignored and avoided. As I watched the 13-minute video from Medic4Christ, I was immediately struck with the numerous errors he incorporated into this video due to his thinking that caused him to miscalculate the length of the Tribulation period for starters. He’s already way off yet he can’t see it. To his credit, he admits he’s not really that knowledgeable in that area, but what Joshua says still rang true with him. That is precisely why what Joshua said rang true to him, because Medic4Christ is not that studied in the area of prophetic discourse.

I’m not an expert in it myself, but let me say I have studied it for years and have written a few books on the subject. I have some understanding of the end times and the way it appears to unfold. I could be wrong in certain areas, but on the overall picture, I don’t believe I am.

We are called to participate in the Great Commission of Matthew 28. Our job is evangelizing the lost, not to stare at the sky for signs and wonders, not to listen to people who believe themselves to be prophets or apostles to whom God speaks directly.

Certainly, to be clear, things are ramping up and each day brings us one day closer to the Rapture and/or the start of the Tribulation (if you do not believe the Rapture precedes the Tribulation). However, we cannot know the day or hour of those events. We can know the times and the seasons but that is all. That still should not pull us away from the God-given task at hand, which is to live lives that glorify Him and we do that by dying to our own self will and reaching out to the lost.

By the way, this same type of thing occurred years ago in the late 1970’s when the prophetic movement was big then. It morphed from simply teaching about the biblical end times moving into areas where certain people started believing God spoke directly to them about events occurring at specific days and hours.

The difference between then and now is that there is more of this type of thing happening today where people believe God is speaking to them, revealing secrets only He knows.

Why does it matter when the Rapture or Tribulation starts? So we should witness to people using that information in order to scare them out of hell and into heaven? That’s not the pattern we read in Scripture. We need to tell people of their sin and their need for Jesus, based solidly on Scripture and allow that through the Holy Spirit to work on their hearts to bring them to salvation.

I can stand on a street corner and preach that Jesus is coming back soon. That would be true because “soon” is a relative term as the Bible often uses it. It’s far more important though to inform people of their current standing before God and how that standing can be changed by the grace extended to them through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.

Come this September, we will know whether Joshua is a false prophet or not. Certainly, things could start happening this September and I’m of the opinion that because things are ramping up so quickly and powerfully, it cannot be that much longer before He returns, can it? I don’t count on that though. I may be here another 10-20 years and He may simply take me home through my death.

We all want to hope don’t we? This is part of what these prophetic voices play into; hope. So people start to cling to them. But really, the greatest “hope” I have is that one day, however I get there (through the Rapture or my death), I will be taken to be with Jesus. The hope I have in Him is my greatest hope and it is what carries me through this life.

My hope isn’t based on the Rapture, the Tribulation or anything else like that. My true hope is based in the fact that one day, I will be transferred from this life to eternity, where I will dwell with my Lord. I will see Him face to face. I will hear His tender voice and see the tenderness in his eyes and face. I will love Him unreservedly, like I cannot do now, try as I might. Then I will see Him face to face. He will know me, love me and I will experience that like I cannot experience it now.

This world could be a great deal worse and one day it will be. There is still much beauty in it and I am grateful for the life God has given me and the blessings He pours on me.

Yes, study prophetic discourse in Scripture. No, do not pay attention to those who tell you they’ve heard a word from God that ultimately contradicts His Word.

Carry on and live for His glory.
