Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry (Audiobook)

I’m a huge fan of Emily Henry and have listened to many of her books and have never had one I didn’t like. Pair that with Julia Whelan narrating the novel and it just doesn’t get any better than that!
I did find this novel a little different than the others I’ve listened to in that it isn’t just a romcom. Alice and Hayden, both journalists, are competing to write the biography of Margaret Ives who is in her eighties and comes from a prominent family. As Alice interviews her the story alternates between the past and present as Margaret relates all that has happened to here over her long life. It is personal, scandalous, and interesting at the same time. As the story unfolds so many long buried secrets come to light with quite a few being a surprise to me. Sprinkled throughout is the love that Alice and Hayden explore and share.
Great Big Beautiful Life is one of my favourites that Emily Henry has written. I loved that the focus of this novel wasn’t just the romance although that was nice too. This one went deeper and tugged on the heartstrings some. The audio was so well done but that didn’t surprise me in the least with Julia Whelan reading it. She is one of my top five narrators and listening to her tell a great story is always a treat. Recommended for those who like family dramas and romance. Perfect for summer reading! I loved it!
