The Missing Half by Ashley Flowers (Audiobook)

The Missing Half is the second novel from Ashley Flowers, bestselling author of All Good People Here (my review) which I loved and host of the true crime podcast Crime Junkie which I love as well. Sometimes I find an author’s second novel isn’t as good but that isn’t the case here. I loved this one as well and the ending – wow! I was not expecting the twist at the end so it was a bit of a shocker.
Nic has struggled since the disappearance of her older sister Kasey seven years ago. She’s living alone working a job that is going nowhere and she just got a DWI. Nic is mad at the world and has been using alcohol for years to numb her pain.
Kasey vanished without a trace. She had been acting a bit odd up to her disappearance but still there were no clues as to what happened to her. The only thing that may have been connected was the disappearance of another girl, Jules, a few weeks before.
The case goes cold until Jule’s sister Jenna shows up to talk to Nic. Jenna has been obsessed with finding out what happened to her sister and she convinces Nic to work with her to investigate the disappearances more closely. As things come to a head we’re hit with the twist and what a twist it was. I never saw it coming and I loved it!
The audiobook is awesome! The story is read by the amazing Saskia Maarleveld and that alone can get me to listen to a book. She was perfect for this story, bringing the emotions, struggles, and love of family to life for this listener. Highly recommended!
