ABOUT THIS BOOK
An inexpensive ($0.99 minimum USA Amazon KDP allowed price) introduction to my writings.
I normally have a pretty elaborate written ABOUT THE BOOK and INTRODUCTION section to my books, this one will be different. Both the book itself will be “very different” (an ULTRA-SHORT Story, and I mean really, Really, REALLY, short (hence my saying this here, not looking to mis-lead/deceive trick anyone into a purchase without full disclosure up-front what you’re getting “a strange” and VERY SHORT tale) hence the bare minimum price Amazon allows for fare on their system) as well as this section lead-in. An AMAZON KINDLE EXCLUSIVE!
Hello everyone. I have had many interviews discussing my “creative” process (a few listed here: https://TerrorStrikes.info/interviews and few others via https://ivy.fm/tag/joseph-m-lenard and even a few more via https://www.podchaser.com/creators/joseph-m-lenard-107ten9NBc) over the years and I have made it no secret that most of my books come to me via DREAMS. I had a really weird one recently – so I am going to write here a brief story based on that strange dream where I was enrolled in some School somewhere.
Story “a mock report” (partially including a prior released TheLibertyBeacon piece I’d written with some fun/fictional lead-in based upon the dream (the original TLB piece had embedded videos to add some additional/interesting food-for-thought and I will rework those parts a bit to better work them in as if were part of a real Thesis/Report and better part of this “STORY” that I am sharing here with you all))…
I hope my writing style reflects of my love of math classes over English classes (though I did take a few semesters of journalism and wrote for the high-school paper) when I was In School; despite my love of the written word; more-so love to express my thoughts via own written content; hope it does not interfere with reading enjoyment. However, this is me – how I write! Expecting Dikens, Hemmingway, Shakespeare? WRONG GUY – I speak and write “modern US English” (your region, “may vary” LOL).

## Book Report: Is ET Really Here? A Really Short Story
**Author:** Joseph M. Lenard
### 1. Plot Summary
“Is ET Really Here? A Really Short Story” is a brief, unconventional narrative framed as a student’s report on the existence of extraterrestrial life. The story begins with the student’s initial attempt to research aliens, which is mysteriously deleted from the school’s computer system. This act of apparent censorship leads the student down a rabbit hole of questioning and speculation. The student wonders if the school administration is involved in a cover-up, perhaps even composed of alien hybrids.
The student eventually receives permission to continue the project and delves into various aspects of the alien phenomenon, including UFO sightings, government conspiracies, and the possibility of inter-dimensional or time-traveling beings. The student references historical figures like Wernher von Braun and events like the creation of the Space Force. The student also shares a personal experience of visiting Area 51. Finally, the student addresses fellow Christians, urging them to consider the possibility of extraterrestrial life within a biblical context, referencing the Nephilim and angels as examples of non-human entities. The story concludes with the student’s personal UFO sighting and a desire for peaceful communication with aliens, emphasizing the importance of open-mindedness and further discussion.
### 2. Character Analysis
The primary character in this short story is the **student** writing the report. The student is portrayed as inquisitive, skeptical, and somewhat conspiratorial. The student possesses a strong sense of curiosity and a willingness to challenge conventional thinking. The student is also persistent, as demonstrated by their determination to continue the research despite initial setbacks. The student’s voice is informal and conversational, making the narrative accessible and engaging. The student is also aware of the potential biases and limitations of their own perspective, acknowledging the possibility of hoaxes and misinterpretations.
### 3. Theme Discussion
The central theme of the story is the **exploration of the unknown and the questioning of established narratives.** The student’s investigation into extraterrestrial life serves as a metaphor for broader inquiries into truth, knowledge, and the limits of human understanding. The story also touches on themes of **censorship, government secrecy, and the potential for manipulation.** The student’s experience with the deleted research raises questions about the control of information and the suppression of dissenting viewpoints. Furthermore, the story explores the theme of **faith and reason,** particularly in the context of religious beliefs and the possibility of extraterrestrial life. The student challenges the notion that belief in aliens is incompatible with Christian faith, urging readers to consider alternative interpretations of scripture.
### 4. Literary Devices
The author employs several literary devices to enhance the story’s impact. **Rhetorical questions** are used throughout the narrative to engage the reader and stimulate critical thinking. For example, the student asks, “Are there ALIENS?” and “How many of them are too ‘foreigners’?” These questions invite the reader to consider the possibilities and uncertainties surrounding the topic. **Allusions** to popular culture, such as the movie “They Live,” and historical figures, such as Wernher von Braun, add depth and context to the story. **Irony** is present in the student’s self-aware commentary and willingness to acknowledge the limitations of their own experiences. The author also uses **humor** to lighten the tone and make the story more approachable. The student’s playful references to “inter-timenal” travel and the desire for “no probing involved” add a touch of levity to the discussion.
### 5. Critical Analysis
“Is ET Really Here? A Really Short Story” is a thought-provoking and engaging narrative that encourages readers to question assumptions and explore new perspectives. The story’s unconventional format, framed as a student’s report, adds a layer of authenticity and immediacy. The author’s use of rhetorical questions, allusions, and humor makes the story accessible and entertaining.
However, the story’s brevity and fragmented structure may leave some readers wanting more depth and analysis. The student’s exploration of various topics, such as government conspiracies and religious beliefs, is somewhat superficial and lacks rigorous investigation. Additionally, the story’s reliance on personal anecdotes and anecdotal evidence may undermine its credibility for some readers.
Despite these limitations, “Is ET Really Here? A Really Short Story” is a worthwhile read for those interested in the topic of extraterrestrial life and the broader themes of knowledge, truth, and belief. The story’s open-ended conclusion and invitation for further discussion encourage readers to continue exploring these complex and fascinating issues.
## Book Report: Is ET Really Here? A Really Short Story (another look)
**Author:** Joseph M. Lenard
**Academic Level:** High School
### 1. Plot Summary
“Is ET Really Here? A Really Short Story” is a brief, first-person narrative presented as a student’s report on the existence of extraterrestrial life. The story begins with the student’s intention to write a thesis paper on aliens. The initial outline and research questions are mysteriously deleted from the university’s computer system, sparking the student’s suspicion and setting the stage for a series of strange occurrences on campus. The student investigates, encountering evasiveness and denial from faculty and staff.
Despite the initial setbacks, the student is eventually granted permission to continue the project, leading to further observations and musings on the possibility of alien presence on Earth. The narrative weaves together personal anecdotes, references to pop culture (like the movie “They Live”), historical figures (like Wernher von Braun), and biblical interpretations to explore the topic. The student also recounts a visit to Area 51 and shares a personal UFO sighting, ultimately concluding with a call for open discussion and a reflection on the compatibility of faith and the existence of extraterrestrial life.
### 2. Character Analysis
The protagonist of the story is a student driven by curiosity and a thirst for knowledge. The student is inquisitive and willing to challenge conventional thinking, as evidenced by the choice of thesis topic and the determination to pursue it despite encountering resistance. The student possesses a skeptical yet open-minded approach, acknowledging the possibility of both genuine alien encounters and hoaxes.
The student’s character is also defined by a blend of humor and seriousness. The narrative is peppered with puns and lighthearted remarks, but it also delves into deeper philosophical and theological questions. This combination creates a relatable and engaging persona, drawing the reader into the student’s thought process.
Other characters are present in the story, but they are presented as types rather than fully developed characters. The IT staff, the Dean, the tour guides, and the UFO experts are all seen through the lens of the student’s experience and serve to highlight the themes of censorship, skepticism, and the search for truth.
### 3. Theme Discussion
The primary theme of the story is the **exploration of the unknown**. The student’s investigation into the existence of extraterrestrial life serves as a metaphor for the broader human quest to understand the universe and our place within it. The story encourages readers to question assumptions, challenge authority, and remain open to possibilities beyond the realm of conventional knowledge.
Another significant theme is the **tension between faith and reason**. The student, addressing fellow Christians, argues that the existence of aliens does not necessarily contradict religious beliefs. By referencing biblical figures like the Nephilim and angels, the student suggests that the Bible does not explicitly deny the possibility of extraterrestrial life and that faith and scientific inquiry can coexist.
The story also touches on the theme of **censorship and the suppression of information**. The initial deletion of the student’s research outline raises questions about the control of knowledge and the potential for hidden agendas within institutions. This theme adds a layer of intrigue and encourages readers to consider the forces that may be shaping their understanding of the world.
### 4. Literary Devices
Lenard employs several literary devices to enhance the story’s impact:
* **First-person narration:** The story is told from the student’s perspective, creating a sense of immediacy and intimacy. This allows the reader to connect with the student’s thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
* **Rhetorical questions:** The narrative is filled with questions that prompt the reader to think critically about the topic of extraterrestrial life. These questions encourage engagement and invite the reader to form their own conclusions.
* **Allusions:** The story references various aspects of pop culture and history, such as the movie “They Live,” Wernher von Braun, and Area 51. These allusions add depth and context to the narrative, inviting readers to explore related themes and ideas.
* **Humor and satire:** The story uses humor to lighten the mood and make the topic more accessible. The puns and playful remarks create a sense of levity, while also subtly critiquing societal attitudes towards UFOs and conspiracy theories.
### 5. Critical Analysis
“Is ET Really Here? A Really Short Story” is a thought-provoking and entertaining exploration of the possibility of extraterrestrial life. The story’s strength lies in its ability to blend personal anecdotes, historical references, and philosophical musings into a cohesive and engaging narrative.
The story’s brevity is both a strength and a weakness. On one hand, it allows the author to cover a wide range of topics in a concise and accessible manner. On the other hand, it limits the depth of character development and thematic exploration. The characters are not well-fleshed out, and the themes are presented more as points for discussion than as fully developed arguments.
Despite these limitations, the story succeeds in sparking curiosity and encouraging critical thinking. The author’s open-minded approach and willingness to challenge conventional wisdom make the story a valuable contribution to the ongoing debate about the existence of extraterrestrial life. The story’s conclusion, which emphasizes the compatibility of faith and scientific inquiry, is a particularly noteworthy and timely message.
Overall, “Is ET Really Here? A Really Short Story” is a worthwhile read for anyone interested in exploring the mysteries of the universe and the complexities of human belief.
