This is where Kate finds herself when the hotel she has met her lover at is taken over by terrorists. She loves her husband and children but she craves more and she finds that in an affair. When they are trapped in the hotel room Kate really begins to look back on her life and all the special moments with her husband and kids. She realizes that she doesn’t want this affair anymore. She only wants her safe and stable husband. Yet foremost in her mind is that she may never get the chance to see him again if she doesn’t get out of this horror alive.
I really enjoyed this book. The audiobook is narrated by Hattie Morahan and she has a great voice that I loved listening to. She brought Kate and all the emotions she was feeling in the face of uncertainty alive for me. This novel really touches on some deep feelings. When you’re faced with what may be the end you think about what are ultimately the most important things to you.
I think this book would be a good one for book club discussions and in general for anyone who loves women’s fiction. I really enjoyed this one!
