Trong một cuộc trao đổi giữa chuyên gia phân tích Edward Snyder, đến từ Charter Equity Research, với tờ New York Times tháng 3/2008, khẳng định Apple sẽ khó hoàn thành mục tiêu bán được 10 triệu chiếc iPhone như Steve Jobs tuyên bố. Snyder chỉ ra rằng số điện thoại bán ra trong một tuần của Nokia nhiều hơn so doanh số Apple kỳ vọng. Tuy nhiên, phần mềm chỉnh sửa ảnh cho android những con số trong báo cáo sau đó của Apple đã chứng minh Snyder đã dự đoán sai. Doanh số iPhone trong năm 2008 đã cán mốc 12,8 triệu thiết bị.

Nhiều nhà phân tích tin rằng, idm cho android Apple sẽ đạt mốc 600 triệu chiếc iPhone bán ra trước khi năm 2014 kết thúc. Đặc biệt khi cứ 2 ngày, Apple lại bán được 717 nghìn chiếc iPhone.
