The automotive conglomerate Stellantis has faced an unprecedented financial reversal. After reporting record-breaking profits in 2023, the company behind 14 major automotive brands experienced an enormous financial hit—reporting a staggering €22.3 billion net loss, wiping out roughly €70 billion in market value. Stock prices collapsed roughly 60 percent to 75 percent from their early 2024 peak, culminating in shares touching historic lows.

The Dodge brand has struggled to gain traction with its new generation of muscle cars. The highly publicized electric Charger Daytona has seen exceptionally low sales volume (fewer than 800 units sold year-to-date), though its gasoline-powered counterpart has shown significantly better consumer interest. Fiat’s volume in North America has effectively shrunk to near-zero, moving a minuscule 54 vehicles total in the entire third quarter. While it maintains volume in Europe, its EV transition strategy—specifically with the 500e—has failed to attract widespread market demand. The Ram brand continues to buck the negative trend, surging with a 29 percent  sales gain in the third quarter, heavily driven by strong retail demand for its newly revived Hemi and Hurricane-powered trucks.

To repair the damage of bloated dealer lots and quality setbacks—which placed Jeep and Ram near the bottom of J.D. Power’s initial quality rankings—Filosa has established 50 focused “quality war rooms”. Furthermore, the brand is actively rolling back the high-margin premium push by shifting resources to affordable models. Stellantis has announced a pipeline of nine new vehicles priced under $40,000 to win back the core working-class consumer base that historically anchored its brands.
