Chemical Additives and Food Dyes Have NOT Been Banned

One of the central promises of the MAHA platform was removing synthetic food dyes and chemical additives from the food supply. Secretary Kennedy publicly declared that the administration would compel cereal manufacturers to remove artificial dyes. However, when regulatory authority was exercised, the agency opted for non-binding industry arrangements, i.e. promises from food manufacturers instead of anything that can be enforced:

• In April 2025, the FDA formally banned Citrus Red 2 and Orange B—two dyes already virtually abandoned by food manufacturers. But for six widely consumed petroleum-based dyes (including Red 40, Yellow 5, and Yellow 6), the agency merely requested a voluntary phase-out by late 2026. Admitting the limitation, Kennedy noted, “We don’t have an agreement, we have an understanding”. A year later, synthetic dyes remain widespread in children’s cereals.

• Secretary Kennedy pledged to eliminate the Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) loophole, which allows manufacturers to introduce new food additives without FDA pre-approval or public disclosure. While the FDA proposed a notification rule in August 2026, the policy does not require independent safety testing or give the FDA authority to block unsafe additives before they reach consumers. Please also note that GRAS is what makes it possible for vaccine manufacturers to conceal food proteins in the injections under “other” adjuvants, and not test for safety. This is the main mass poisoning mechanism making children allergic to normally healthy food!

3. Cutting Fruit and Vegetable Access for Vulnerable Families

While promoting healthy eating, the administration repeatedly targeted safety-net programs designed to provide fresh produce to low-income mothers and children:

• In both its 2026 and 2027 budget proposals, the administration sought to reduce monthly fruit and vegetable benefits under WIC by up to 75%.

• In January 2026, the USDA permanently discontinued the Household Food Security Report, a 30-year-old federal survey that measured whether American families had adequate access to nutrition.

4. Spraying “Forever Chemicals” and Pesticides on Food Crops

Despite campaign pledges to protect the food supply from harmful chemicals, regulatory decisions at the EPA and USDA expanded chemical usage:

• The initial MAHA Commission report identified atrazine and glyphosate as dangerous toxins affecting children. Following intense industry lobbying, the final White House MAHA Strategy dropped all mentions of and proposed actions against both chemicals.

• In February 2026, President Trump invoked the Defense Production Act to boost domestic production of glyphosate (the active ingredient in Roundup) and sought to shield manufacturer Bayer-Monsanto from consumer litigation.

• Between November 2025 and July 2026, the EPA approved five new PFAS (”forever chemical”) pesticides for use on staple food crops, including tomatoes, peas, lettuce, citrus, and wheat.
