R200m Spent on Deportation “Abahambe” rhetoric cannot help South Africa over immigrants crisis
Money being wasted on deporting undocumented immigrants can start businesses which create employment in South Africa. More RDP houses can be built for South African families who have no houses.
R200m was spent to deport 83,731 illegal immigrants since January 2022, with R52m spent between April and August to deport 19,750 people.
Politicians and individuals using ‘abahambe (They Must Go)’, to get some votes and repeat the same to remain relevant in the public arena are not helping the country. They are not being patriotic.
Documenting immigrants gives them a sense of belonging and they can help the country. Ruthless employers will not exploit them anymore because they will have legal recourse. They will also have bank accounts and pay taxes. This gives them the opportunity to start businesses, some will be successful and create more jobs in South Africa.

Though, job opportunities must first be offered to South Africans. If no South African has taken the position, then foreigners with documents can take the job.
Documented immigrants are likely not to be tempted into crime. They are also traceable in case of any concerns.
Hatred as an ideology does not help humanity. Don’t hate foreigners created in God’s image. By hating people and falsely scapegoating them for difficulties they have not caused we bring curses upon ourselves and our country.
