Gutu, Masvingo, Zimbabwe – A catastrophic combination of floods and drought has ravaged Zimbabwe, leaving a trail of destruction and desperation. The recent floods in Gutu and surrounding areas have:
- Destroyed crops and fields
- Washed away homes and property
- Exacerbated poverty and starvation
Following a severe drought in 2023 and early 2024, which saw crops burned in fields, the floods have pushed already vulnerable families to the brink.
A Call to Action
International organizations, NGOs, churches, and Western Christians are urged to assist Zimbabweans affected by these disasters. Emergency aid, seeds, fertilizers, and chemicals are desperately needed to support agriculture and small businesses.

The economic struggles have forced many Zimbabweans to seek better livelihoods in neighboring countries, including Zambia, Botswana, Malawi, and South Africa. However, in South Africa, they face:
- Xenophobia
- Persecution
- Accusations of job theft and romantic relationships with South Africans
- Arrests and bribes
- Limited documentation (only 200,000 Zimbabweans have received ZEP permits)
