‘Blessed are the poor in spirit;
theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
A spirit of service, no ambition except the desire to love
The gentle:
they shall have the earth for their heritage.
A spirit of acceptance, life’s wind blow both wild and calm
Those who mourn:
they shall be comforted.
A spirit of hope, one that extends beyond the limits of breath
Those who hunger and thirst for what is right:
they shall be satisfied.
A spirit of passion, that each voice will be heard despite the noise
The merciful:
they shall have mercy shown them.
A spirit of understanding the plight of others, to untangle what is bound
The pure in heart:
they shall see God.
A spirit of anticipation, that God’s presence is closer than any heartbeat
The peacemakers:
they shall be called sons of God.
A spirit of seeking, finding the worth of each person
Those who are persecuted in the cause of right:
theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
A sprit of trusting, you may not change hearts, but what’s to come eternally fulfils every heart.
