Tshuma Family To Be Buried in Zimbabwe

A mother and her two daughters, taken in the United Kingdom, are coming home to Zimbabwean soil — and a nation is left asking why love, when it breaks, so often turns to violence.

Nothabo Zandile Tshuma, 42, and her two daughters, Natalie, 15, and Nala, five, are going home. Not to celebrate a homecoming, but to be laid to rest in the Zimbabwean soil that raised them. Their bodies, currently in the United Kingdom, are being prepared for repatriation by grieving relatives who now carry a grief no family should ever have to carry.

Zandile and her daughters are alleged to have been murdered by Ndodana Tshuma, who is Zandile’s husband and the father of Natalie and Nala. He was captured by South African Police and is currently in custody as extradition proceedings continue in court. He has not yet been convicted, and the legal process must be allowed to run its course.

This is heartbreaking. The vibrant lives of Natalie and Nala have been destroyed prematurely, before they could finish growing up, before they could finish becoming who they were meant to be. We continue to mourn the three of them, and we hold their memory close as their family prepares to bring them home.

If things of love are not working, don’t kill anyone. Just walk out of the relationship and find a new relationship that works for you.

A family destroyed is a story we are seeing far too often, and it is a warning that must be repeated for as long as it takes to be heard. Whatever goes wrong between two adults, children should never pay for it with their lives. Walking away is always possible. Killing is never the answer.
