Air Fryer Crispy Roasted Onion Potatoes
I am really happy to share this quick and easy air fryer crispy roasted onion potatoes recipe with you today.  A small batch recipe, it makes only two servings, although you could certainly double it to serve more people!
It uses very few ingredients and goes together very quickly. It also cooks very quickly in the air fryer.  I found it only took mine about 17 minutes altogether from start to finish and assembling them literally took only a few minutes.

Air Fryer Crispy Roasted Onion Potatoes
I have done Roasted Onion Potatoes before.  In the regular oven.  That, too, was a small batch recipe and actually also had fresh onions, diced and added.  Very delicious!
But it is summer at the moment, and hot and humid. Nobody wants to be turning their ovens on for any length of time. Much better to use another method if you can, and an air fryer works perfectly for cooking/roasting potatoes!

The potato is my favorite vegetable and I am always looking for new ways to cook them.  I had picked up a rather large bag of baby potatoes at the Costco outlet the other day and was looking for ways to use them when I came across this recipe on The Creative Bite. It was exactly what I was looking for!
I did take the liberty of small batching the recipe, as there is only one of me to eat things up here. I enjoyed one tasty serving on the day and the other delicious half the day after.  (I simply reheated in a skillet, although I am sure I could have easily popped them into the air fryer to reheat.)
In any case, these are delicious. Simple to make. Quickly cooked, and using only a few ingredients!  Enjoy!

WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE AIR FRYER CRISPY ROASTED ONION POTATOES
You will need an air fryer of course (more about that below), but other than that you only need three simple ingredients!
  • 1 pound (454g) of baby red potatoes
  • 1 TBS light olive oil
  • 1/2 envelope of dry onion soup mix

The first air fryer I had was a T-Fal Air Fryer which I got when I was in the U.K. It was quite large and flat, but did really nice chips. It worked on the same premise as the ones which we have available to us today, except it had a little paddle in the center which kept the food in it moving. I used to do chicken wings in it and all sorts.
They have really modernized since then and are upright and quite modern looking. I like the looks of this one,  which both fries and grills and I was watching a video on YouTube the other day where she was using a Dreo Chef Combi Fryer and that looked very impressive indeed, but with its hefty price tag it will have to just remain on my wish list for a while longer!

The air fryer I use is a Kuraidori, which I bought at my local Home Hardware.  It is not small, but neither is it overly large and it is not as expensive as some that are out there. I love it so much that I bought one as a gift for my sister. We both use them quite a lot. They are also now available on Amazon
I love that it also has a rotisserie attachment, which is easy to use.  Its also really easy to keep clean, which is a real bonus when it comes to kitchen equipment. Not that I am lazy, but easy clean always works for me!
At the end of the day I say take a look at what is available around you and choose according to what you can afford to spend. It also doesn’t hurt to take a look at online reviews to see what other people are saying!

The other ingredients are pretty self-explanatory. I used the Knorr brand of onion soup mix because hat is the one I could find.  You only need half a packet for this small batch recipe. Simply close of the remainder tightly and use it another time.
When I was in the U.K. I used to either buy Ainsley Harriot’s French Onion dry cup of soup mix, or I would order my dry onion soup mix via Amazon.

I am not sure why red potatoes, maybe because they hold their shapes well.  Mine were mostly quite small so a lot of them only needed to be cut in half.  I like to use light olive oil rather than canola or sunflower oil. You use whatever oil you want. What you don’t want is an oil with a strong flavor, like extra virgin olive oil.

HOW TO MAKE AIR FRYER CRISPY ROASTED ONION POTATOES
Nothing could really be easier. These go together very quickly and are very tasty when done!

Wash your potatoes well. Dry them and then quarter or halve your potatoes into a bowl. My potatoes were somewhat small so I halved most of them and quartered the larger ones.

Add the oil to the boil and toss the potatoes together with the oil to coat. Add the onion soup mix and toss together again to coat with the soup mix.

Pour the potatoes into the basket of your air fryer.

Air fry at 390*F/185*C for ten minutes. Give the basket a good shake and then air fry at the same temperature for another five  to seven minutes, until tender and golden brown.

Super delicious and really simple to make, I was very impressed with these.  They also cooked very quickly, much more quickly than they would have done in a conventional oven.
These would go very well along the side of any protein. I enjoyed them with a lamb chop, but fish, chicken, beef, pork, any one of those would go well. So would sauteed tofu if you are so inclined!

Air Fryer Crispy Roasted Onion Potatoes
Is the potato your favorite vegetable like it is mine?  A day without a potato in it is not a good day from my perspective. Here are another few of my favorite recipes to enjoy them in!
CHEESE & BROCCOLI STUFFED JACKET POTATOES – Jacket potato is another way of saying baked potato.  Twice baking them, stuffed with something is a delicious way to enjoy them. This version is really really tasty  and contains crispy tender bits of broccoli and a tasty strong cheddar.  These are a fabulous way of getting in some of your five a day and really tasty way to get your broccoli haters to eat broccoli!

PAN FRIED POTATOES - When I was growing up, it was a really good day when mom had pan fried potatoes on the menu. Crispy edged and buttery they were delicious.  I make the same way as mom did, except I like to add a bit of onion for extra flavor. These are a great re-purposing of leftover boiled potatoes! In fact I will boil extra potatoes just so I can make them!
