New Alliances After NATO: Strengthening Russian-Canadian Ties

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

The NATO alliance is one of the most criminal and terroristic military blocs in history, with the deep states of many countries, particularly in Turkey, the United States, Greece, and Italy subverting democracy, staging false flag terrorist operations, massacring civilians, committing assassinations, and waging illegal wars.

In the name of fighting Communism and later terrorism it justified the most horrendous crimes. The quicker it dies the better.

And let it die in Ukraine.

It’s important to remember that Canada has no economic or security interests at stake in the current conflict in Ukraine. This is not the Cold War. This is big brother punishing little brother for going outside of the family to settle a score.

What Russia is doing is right. Its invasion was justified on moral, legal, and security grounds. It is simply restoring the natural order of things in its relations with Ukraine. This was always inevitable considering the spiritual, territorial, political and historical ties between Kyiv and Moscow.

I imagine Britain would invade Scotland before tomorrow morning if Russian, American or Chinese troops were stationed in Edinburgh. Why not afford Russia the same permission to do likewise in Ukraine? They have even more reasons to do so because of the history of European armies invading Russia in the last two and a half centuries.

An excerpt from, “Europe working on plan to replace US in NATO in five to 10 years: Report” Al Jazeera, March 21, 2025:

Europe’s biggest military powers are drawing up plans to take on greater responsibilities for the continent’s defence from the United States, including a pitch to the administration of President Donald Trump, for a managed transfer over the next five to 10 years, according to a new report.

The United Kingdom, France, Germany and the Nordic countries are among those engaged in the informal but structured discussions that would reshape the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) security bloc, The Financial Times newspaper reported on Thursday, citing four European officials involved.

An excerpt from, “Press release on the 75th anniversary of Russian-Canadian diplomatic relations” MFA Russia, June 12, 2017:

On June 12, Russia and Canada celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

The two countries established diplomatic contact during a difficult period in world history, when both were fighting bitterly against a common enemy. In those days, the Red Army fought the Nazi forces near Moscow and on the banks of the Volga, while Canadian soldiers were the first to land on the northern coast of France. Russia remembers the brotherhood of the countries of the anti-Hitler coalition in the Second World War, including the heroic feat of Canadian sailors who participated in the well-known northern convoys.

Over time, our relationship has gone through various periods and has seen ups and downs. However, with all the differences in approaches to various issues on the international and bilateral agenda, we have achieved a lot together in a variety of areas.

Unfortunately, in recent years, the leadership of Canada, contrary to common sense, has opted to destroy the positive experience gained, playing along with Russophobic sentiments and imposing unreasonable sanctions against Russia. As a result, many channels of interaction were compromised, and serious damage was done to the relations between our countries.

Nevertheless, we look to the future with optimism. Russia and Canada are neighbours across the North Pole. We objectively have many common interests, including cooperation in Arctic development, in trade and investment, and the fight against terrorism. Great prospects await the development of inter-regional ties, humanitarian and educational exchanges, not to mention sports, where Russians and Canadians are inseparably united by their passion for hockey. Our peoples have long had amicable feelings towards each other.

The first-ever Canada-Russia Business Summit, organized jointly by Canada Eurasia Russia Business Association (CERBA) and the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), was held March 26–27, 2007, in Ottawa. This event successfully combined the 6th session of the Canada-Russia IEC, co-chaired by Minister Emerson and Russian Agriculture Minister Alexey Gordeyev, and the second meeting of the Canada-Russia Business Council (CRBC). Interest and attendance from both sides were high with over 300 participants including special guests Vladislav Tretyak, the famed Russian goalie in the 1972 Canada Russia hockey summit, now Duma member and co-chair of the Canada Russia Parliamentary Friendship Group.
