The Market Ticker - Starlink 'Standby'
As I noted when the first notices went out Starlink has gotten rid of the “unlimited pause” capacity (you can shut off the unit and turn it back on at-will, with no penalty, on a month-by-month basis) and replaced it with “Standby”, which is a $5/month option and has nominally 512kbps unlimited service.
I bought a “Mini” for both RV use (mine) and, when Sarah was traveling, a means for her to use it when I didn’t need it and she did. It works well, as I noted, particularly in places where nobody is (e.g. out in the middle of BF Nowhere on BLM land) where there is also, of course, no congestion.
The one downside in true “off grid” use is that like all Starlinks its pretty power-hungry. Not as bad as the full-size hardware, but it really does have a decent amount of power demand and, if you…….
