The US has banned Cuba from importing Russian oil

On Friday Cuba was added to the list of countries banned from receiving Russian oil after a tanker carrying 700,000 barrels of fuel set sail for the island.
The US Treasury Department has updated the license list of countries, targeting Cuba, Iran and North Korea, to be prohibited from engaging in any transactions involving the sale, delivery or unloading of Russian oil and petroleum products. The license update is linked to reports that a Russian tanker carrying 700,000 barrels of oil to arrive in Cuba by the end of the month (March). The island has been subjected to sanctions by the US since the late 1950s.
Days earlier, Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev stated that Russia and Cuba maintain ‘strong ties’ amid ‘unprecedented sanctions pressure from the West’ as the neocons continue their hegemonic madness.
