From 14 Years on YouTube to Deletion — The Hope Girl Story of Hacking, Censorship, and Rebirth

A long, long time ago, in a land far, far away — America, in relation to Morocco — I started a YouTube channel. It was connected to my Hope Girl blog. YouTube was different back then, and slowly but surely, my channel grew. I had lots of subscribers, up to 10,000. Some of my videos went viral. My highest video, about the energy project, had 250,000 views.

When I would put up a new video, within one day it would get at least 3,000 views. It would go viral and be recommended to others in the YouTube recommendation tabs. People kept hearing my voice and following our work. Everything was great.

The 2016 YouTube Adpocalypse

Then 2016 happened — the infamous YouTube Ad-pocalypse. YouTube changed its standards. Large corporations pulled their funding, and overnight thousands of channels were deleted. Monetized creators lost everything. 

We tried to play it cool and lay low. We avoided controversial content. For a while, we survived. But soon, our channel became censored — shadow-banned. Our videos didn’t show up in searches. They disappeared from recommendations. Views plummeted.

To viewers, it looked like we had stopped making videos. But we hadn’t. We were being hidden. It was devastating.

The Move to Alternative Platforms

During 2019 and 2020, censorship increased again. During the COVID-19 years, even more channels were terminated. We decided to move our content elsewhere.

We opened channels on BitChute, Rumble, Brighteon, and Odyssey. For several years, things went well. From 2020 to 2024, views were strong, audiences grew, and we created a lot of shows, interviews, and presentations. 

But by early 2025, the political climate shifted again. Our videos stopped being promoted, even on alt platforms. Views dropped. Once again—we were shadow-banned. This time, even on the platforms that were supposed to be free. 

Still, we continued to upload and serve our community. During these six years, the original Hope Girl YouTube channel became dormant — frozen at 10,000 subscribers.

The Return and the Work Behind It

In 2026, after months of studying Google SEO optimization and internet marketing, I decided to relaunch the Hope Girl channel. I cleaned it up, changed the graphics, made older videos private, organized the content, and started fresh — while keeping the history and subscribers.

We focused on posting helpful, non-controversial, searchable content. We wanted to make sure people could find our work again. I was excited to bring back years of videos that had only existed on alt platforms. For the first time in years, it felt safe to be back on YouTube.

The Hack and the Loss

Then something horrible happened. A few weeks after uploading new videos, I received an email claiming one of my videos had a copyright violation. The message looked professional, so I clicked the link and entered my login details. Within five minutes, hackers locked me out.

They were automated, sophisticated. I watched in real time as they live-streamed an NVIDIA presentation from my channel — to 70,000 viewers. Ten minutes later, YouTube terminated my 14-year-old account for copyright violation.

Everything was gone.
Fourteen years of content, memories, and links. Ten thousand subscribers — gone.

No customer service, no recovery process, no hope from YouTube support. I just had to accept it.

Lessons and Resilience

But I am a fighter. I refuse to give up my ability to communicate and share the messages I am inspired to give.

There was a silver lining. We had backups. During the censorship waves of 2020, my family and I created full archives of every video. We put them on thumb drives, uploaded them to multiple alternative platforms, and protected all accounts and financial data.

Nothing critical was lost.
Only the channel itself.
And so, I went within. I prayed. I reflected. What came out of that process was a miracle — something better than before.

A New Understanding of SEO and AI

In the last two years, AI changed everything. People no longer type search terms into Google the same way. They go to ChatGPT, AI-assisted searches, and intelligent systems that find information dynamically.

To appear in these new types of searches, content has to be structured and described differently. Tags and descriptions must reflect AI indexing, not just Google keywords.

We learned about this shift by studying AI optimization, attending courses, and experimenting with new strategies. In short:
If your videos aren’t formatted properly for AI indexing, no one will find them.

Example: The Olive Harvest

We tested this using one of our videos — a short film about our olive harvest in Marrakech, Morocco. If someone searches “olive oil from Morocco” using an AI search tool, the video should appear — but only if it’s optimized. That means the title, description, and metadata must clearly reflect that topic.

We hadn’t done this before on the original channel. Now we are.

The Rebirth of the Hope Girl Channel

I am creating a new, optimized channel that republishes our best content from the last six years — but refined with AI-based SEO. It’s a fresh start. A way to finally reach people again.

It feels like a new era. The old channel ended, but the story continues — rebuilt smarter, safer, and stronger.

We will continue posting everywhere — YouTube, BitChute, Rumble, Odyssey, and Brighteon — because diversity matters. But we now understand that only Google-linked and AI-integrated platforms show up in most searches. That means Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Google-based engines are where visibility lives.

Alternative platforms like BitChute and Brighteon are important, but they don’t appear in major AI searches. That’s a limitation creators must understand.

Moving Forward

We see this not as a tragedy, but as a transformation. The old channel was lost — but the mission lives on.

We now have a team helping with posting, editing, and marketing. We’re rebuilding everything — our connections, content, and reach — while maintaining presence on all platforms.
