This week’s Microcap Information Arbitrage Weekly Wrap is ready —where we help you cut through the noise and spot what others have missed.

Tracking the Pulse Behind the Curtain: Data Centers, AI, and Our Latest Internal Moves

As we’ve continued to ramp up our focus on growth trends, we’ve quietly made a couple of important updates behind the scenes this past week to help you find the Artificial Intelligence and Data Center stocks we are tracking or that reside in our Model Portfolios. Of course, as usual, we sift through the hype to find the few quality smaller companies that set themselves apart from pump and dump promotions and management that spews commentary that’s full of fluff and no substance.

For our premium subscribers, the full Weekly Wrap-Up newsletter dives into these stories, unpacking earnings, management commentary, CEO & investor interviews and market dynamics impacting stocks we follow. If you’re not yet a premium subscriber, I invite you to join us—unlock the detailed insights that could sharpen your portfolio decisions. Read on for more highlights from last week.

Also, at the end of this post, you can see all of the individual emails we sent throughout the week that today’s summary covers, and are also individually archived at our premium portal under the Research main menu item. Finally, you will unlock all of our premium research and videos on all our favorite stocks, as well as our 1500-company coverage universe.

As you might know, in addition to GeoInvesting Model Portfolios, we also create stock screens based on certain trends. Last week, we had a few updates to these screens

First, we’ve added a new stockto our Artificial Intelligence Screen—one that’s helping some of the world’s largest enterprises modernize their data infrastructure and navigate the path to AI readiness. This company isn’t flashy, but it’s deeply embedded in the advisory layer of enterprise tech decisions. This pivot away from legacy competitive consulting work appears to be gaining traction.  Although it’s too early to tell if this boring company is finally ready to grow, we’ll be watching closely to see if the company’s new direction becomes a sustained inflection point.

Second, we’ve formally launched a new screen tracking the companies with direct or adjacent exposure to the data center infrastructure buildout boom. This includes players in power management, generator protection systems, environmental control, and infrastructure—some that are either under the radar or still in the early innings of their exposure to this trend. Several of these stocks are already part of our model portfolios or have been covered extensively in recent research.

However, one of the new stocks we added is pretty intriguing. If you missed it, we covered their role in data center growth last Sunday, here. I have already scheduled a site visit field trip to company headquarters with a few other investors.

We’ll keep adding stocks to these screens as new candidates emerge, but what’s already clear is that the demand story for power, cooling, and physical enablement isn’t just real—it’s accelerating.

Below are the top 3 performing stocks in the data center screen. There are currently 6 in the list, and we expect it to grow.

And this brings us to one of the most informative conversations I’ve had this year.

From Microcap Grit to Multibagger Gold: My Deep-Dive with “Multibagger Monitor” Mike

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Mike, the author of the Multibagger Monitor Substack. He can also be found on X under the handle @Mike10947310.

The full chat is archived here.

You’ve probably seen some overlap between the stocks he covers and the ones we track—Tecogen Inc. (NYSE:TGEN), Tss, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSSI) —and for good reason. Mike’s approach to investing is exactly the kind of process-driven work I love to see in younger investors. What started as a casual discussion turned into a wide-ranging, no-fluff conversation covering everything from how he sources ideas to why a site visit to TGEN solidified it as a top position.

I wanted to take the time to share some of the most valuable takeaways from that chat, because it wasn’t just about stocks—it was about strategy, discipline, and how to build an edge in an underfollowed corner of the market where information is still incredibly inefficient.

From Wall Street to Watching the Tape: Mike’s Investing Origin Story

Mike started out like many of us—curious about markets and business, and driven to understand how the world really works beneath the headlines. After a stint in investment banking, he realized quickly that he wasn’t cut out for corporate hierarchy. What drew him in more was the ability to independently pursue ideas, research on his own terms, and act quickly on what mattered most.

His first taste of edge came during the chaos of the COVID pandemic. Living in New York with a friend, he saw opportunities to profit from rapid news-based dislocations—think CPI prints that lagged their impact on Bitcoin by 30 seconds, which in market time is an eternity. That approach gave him a crash course in market reflexivity, information flow, and what actually moves prices. While he eventually stepped away from that strategy, the experience trained him to spot opportunity fast—and think probabilistically.

Over time, he transitioned to more thematic, longer-horizon investing. Now, he focuses almost entirely on microcap and underfollowed names, often where there’s an overlooked trend or misunderstood catalyst at play. Sound familiar?

I find it pretty funny that even though Mike starts his research from the top (industry) and I start it from the bottom-up, we somehow seem to have met in the middle on some stocks. A sort of checks and balances, if you will.ðŸ¤

The Power of Process: How Mike Sources Ideas and Builds Conviction

Actually, Mike’s idea flow is driven by a mix of top-down trend research and bottom-up analysis. He has tracked large secular trends—like AI infrastructure buildouts, GLP-1 therapeutics, and energy grid constraints—and looks for second-order beneficiaries that are still flying under the radar. For example, while others chase the big chipmakers, he’s asking: which suppliers, installers, or infrastructure enablers benefit next?

He’s also quick to pounce on overlooked developments, like government contracts or industry shifts, that haven’t yet filtered into stock prices. One standout example he gave is nlight, Inc. (NASDAQ:LASR): a small laser component company with a defense segment growing 20% annually, completely masked by a legacy industrials segment. Most investors ignored the story—but if you were tracking the $30B+ U.S. satellite defense initiative, it had clear implications.

When it comes to research, he blends old-school grind with new tools. He’ll read earnings calls and filings, then tap into communities—Twitter, Substack, Discord—to see who else is digging in. And he’s not afraid to lean on others with domain knowledge.

He made an interesting point:  it’s easier to recognize a compelling idea when it’s handed to you than to churn through 500 duds hoping to find one.

This is probably much easier today than it’s ever been in the past because we can see everyone’s grade out in the open. This can help you gauge stock pickers to have conviction in.

But here’s the distinction—Mike doesn’t outsource his thinking. Even if an idea comes from someone else, he stresses the importance of doing your own work and pushing to understand what really matters to the stock.

“This Is Real”: What a Site Visit to TGEN Revealed

One of the highlights of our talk was Mike’s recent in-person visit to Tecogen Inc. (NYSE:TGEN)’s facility. It was his first-ever site visit—and it made a real impression.

He spent over two hours at the facility, speaking with engineers, sales staff, and of course CEO Abinand Rangesh. For anyone skeptical about the viability of Tecogen’s TecoChill product or the legitimacy of their Vertiv partnership, this visit helped clear the air. “It’s real tech, it’s real people, and they know what they’re building,” Mike said.

He noted, what stood out most was how employee-driven and focused the culture felt—folks weren’t milling around for show. They were working, engaged, and clearly understood the product.

I came away with the same impression during my site visit, as the CEO was engaged in showing me the process and builds at TGEN’s factory. “Don’t try this at home.”

Management also explained that they can expand capacity by adding two to three additional assembly bays and introducing a second test cell, enabling simultaneous testing of multiple chillers. This would require some internal rearrangement, but with proper supplier coordination and timing, the facility is well-positioned to ramp up production efficiently.

Abinand walked me through every component, explaining what it does and how it fits into the broader power and cooling puzzle for data centers. I experienced the same interaction, which galvanized my conviction for betting on TGEN.

In fact, the first thing I did when I left the building was to call my trader to tell him that this is the kind of CEO to bet on in microcap land.

But what really clicked for Mike was how much friction exists for first movers, even when a product has clear technical and financial advantages. He came away realizing that winning that first major data center order for TecoChill wasn’t just about specs—it was about building trust, overcoming brand risk, and proving staying power.

Here’s where the recent Vertiv partnership becomes transformative: it de-risks every one of those hurdles.

Vertiv provides the reputation, scale, and market access that Tecogen alone simply couldn’t command. Mike and I both see the Vertiv partnership as a structural unlock—despite the muted market reaction—because it brings the scale and credibility that Tecogen couldn’t achieve alone.

Mike expressed that just a couple of successful data center contracts through Vertiv could be enough to dramatically shift Tecogen’s trajectory—underscoring how meaningful even limited traction could be

I think that anyone who’s spent time tracking TGEN knows this wasn’t a story that could move in a straight line. But between employee ownership initiatives, tangible service revenue, and a product that could dramatically cut power infrastructure costs for hyperscalers, I think we’re looking at a potential inflection point.

Anyways, we had a lot to talk about and published the full replay and clips at the pro portal where we talked about concentration vs. diversification, conviction, knowing when to add, how we both evaluate management teams, the role of AI, screeners, and sell-discipline.

Mike also pitched on a power play with data center upside Hallador Energy Company (NASDAQ:HNRG).
