Summary Of What’s In This Weekly Wrap-Up

Well, we did it. On Monday, November 10, we launched Buy on Pullback Portfolio #14 (BOP) with two names: (Sign in or join today to reveal names). Two more names, Burnham Holdings, Inc. (OOTC:BURCA) and Koil Energy Solutions, Inc. (OTCQB:KLNG), were added during our November Open Forum on Tuesday, with additional candidates now under review.

This week’s highlights include:

  • Full coverage of the November open forum from Tuesday
  • Model portfolio updates
  • New defense and turnaround stock screens
  • The last week of Q3 earnings
  • A quick chat with the CEO of BRM.V
  • Information arbitrage tear sheets for all stocks with earnings calls mentioned in this update
  • Stock symbols discussed: BURCA, KLNG, CAWW, IEHC, VELO, SRTS, KLYG, QBAK, KRMD, TGEN, ZDPY, FTLF, CURI, TSSI, PNG.V, BDT.TO, BRM.V

The Open Forum covered a wide range of updates, including a new management briefing event, model portfolio performance stats, and early names toward building our new Defense Sector Screen. I will provide a recap on this later, but the full replay is already up on the portal.

By the way, you can access all the slides of our open forums at this link, if you’re logged in. Also, you can see all of our archived morning emails here. Finally, you can view in archive list of all the earnings coverage we’ve done since April 2023 here. Please make sure you’re logged in to access these pages.

Speaking of pullbacks, if you haven’t seen it yet, we opined on Tss, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSSI)’s 40% pullback in reaction to its weak Q3 earnings report. You can read more about that here. At the moment, we are finalizing a financial model for the fourth quarter and next year, based on the management’s commentary on the earnings call.

Remember, the BOP is designed to be open for 3 to 12 months and will generally hold between 5 and 10 stocks. The portfolio used to hold 4 to 7 stocks, but what we’re seeing here is that more diversified has not hurt the portfolio, and in fact, may be helping returns. The stocks we are adding for this BOP reflects our plan to lean toward the longer end of our BOP holding period, due to the current weak market sentiment.

Aside from our open forum, we also had a brief audio-only call with Biorem, Inc. (OOTC:BIRMF)(TSXV:BRM) CEO, Derek Webb, ahead of a full video chat next Tuesday, November 18th.

Also, Cca Industries, Inc. (OOTC:CAWW) joined our NEW Restructuring/Turnaround Screen.

As for defense stocks, both Ieh Corp. (OOTC:IEHC) and Velo3d, Inc. (NASDAQ:VELO) are making progress towards getting closer to reflecting on their restructuring efforts, while Kraken Robotics Inc. (OTCQB:KRKNF) (TSXV:PNG) was highlighted in a new contributor article by a Geoinvesting Subscriber who’s been helping us get through our research pipeline.

As expected, the last week of microcap earnings reports kept us busy. Sensus Healthcare, Inc. (NASDAQ:SRTS) moved back onto our radar following a favorable Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement update in its earnings call. Kelyniam Global, Inc. (OOTC:KLYG) made progress on the regulatory side with a new product clearance, though we’re still waiting for consistent business execution.

Qualstar Corp. (OOTC:QBAK) delivered a solid report and continues to work toward an uplist as interest in its off-cloud  storage solutions grows. Koru Medical Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:KRMD) impressed again with momentum from new pharma collaborations supporting its longer-term trajectory. Tecogen Inc. (NYSE:TGEN)’s quarter looked lackluster on the surface, but interest from larger data-center developers and talks with Nvidia Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) and Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) keeps the story interesting.

Zoned Properties, Inc. (OTCQB:ZDPY) sales were essentially flat at $1.01 million in Q3, compared with $1.02 million a year ago, but management hinted at several steps they believe can unlock value soon. Fitlife Brands, Inc. (NASDAQ:FTLF) showed strong sales momentum, even as margin pressure and a softer consumer backdrop remain headwinds. Curiositystream Inc. (NASDAQ:CURI) beat on revenue with better margins and is now consistently generating free cash flow.

Bird Construction Inc. (OOTC:BIRDF) (TSX:BDT) posted a healthy quarter, supported by a strong project pipeline. Tss, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSSI) had a tough reaction to earnings, and whether rack-integration work rebounds remains the key variable ahead. Koil Energy Solutions, Inc. (OTCQB:KLNG) turned in a mixed quarter, but recent contract wins continue to make KLNG a favorite stock of ours moving forward.

Here’s a table that summarizes all the reports highlighted in our morning emails last week:
