Amos Miller getting some credit for the Amish delivering Pennsylvania to Trump

The Amish turnout in last month’s election was reported to be “unprecedented,” possibly helping President-elect Donald J. Trump take Pennsylvania.

The Amish were reportedly moved to the polls by the state’s January execution of a search warrant on the Amos Miller dairy farm located at Bird-in-the-Hand, PA.  

Many Amish rallied around Miller, who has spent much of the year in court rather than merely obtaining a license to produce raw milk for sale.

However, in fund-raising for his own cause, Amos Miller remains $483,000 short of his $800,000 goal. Miller is the beneficiary of an active GiveSendGo campaign that has raised $316,929.

Miller does not appear to have reached the fundraising levels he achieved during the six years that his production practices were challenged in federal court.

The attorney Miler engaged in 2022 when he settled the federal issues is Robert E. Barnes, a well-known Los Angeles attorney with many celebrity clients. Those have included Wesley Snipes, Ralph Nader, Covington Catholic High School students, Alex Jones, and Kyle Rittenhouse. 

Since last January’s search warrant was executed on the Miller Farm, Barnes has emerged as Miller’s most effective spokesman, showing his skill on one media outlet after another.

Whether there were enough Amish voting in the Presidential election to turn Pennsylvania for Trump requires greater expertise. The local explanation is that the Amish saw the action against Amos Miller as overzealous, and their reaction was unusual for a community that usually does not emphasize secular activities like voting.

The Amish said they were getting involved to help Amos Miller, their neighbor. The fund-raising campaign is to ” help keep Amos in business and help with legal costs.”

Often referred to as the “Pennsylvania Dutch,”  the influence left from the November vote may be a change in federal raw milk policy.

The FDA has long prohibited the transportation of raw milk across state lines and discouraged drinking it. With Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s appointment as Secretary of Health and Human Services, federal raw milk policy is less clear.
