This powerful, technocratic, military-industrial-complex has now reached its climax
This great civilization, this powerful technocratic, military-industrial-complex, has reached its climax. But human pride in the technology we use to build great empires constitutes the seed of it’s destruction.
It is normal and part of our survival instincts to think positively and filter out of our minds any uncertainties or threats that we can’t deal with or that distract us from the task of getting on with conducting the business of our day to day affairs and plans. Part of the success of our survival is the ability to form communication networks with friends, family and more extensive teams and social hierarchies that enhance the extent of our perceptions and understanding of the world around us. In this way we pool our knowledge greatly extend our warning systems and allow us to think more objectively than we ever could if we did not have such communication networks. Civilization has risen to extremely great heights as a result of our communication networks, extensive knowledge, technology, positivity and objectivity. But we are not gods, even if we think we are.
The power that people collectively exert over nature has grown enormously and now we think of ourselves as gods that manage and control not only our own day to day affairs and plans, but the very natural realm that sustains us. We have come to believe that the natural realm must submit to our every whim and command. Instead of learning to manage and control ourselves, our desires and our survival instincts, so that we can live in harmony with everyone else and with the natural realm that sustains us, we prefer to give in to our animal instincts and do whatever we like even when that pollutes and destroys the very planet that sustains us like a mother. Until recently, people have never really needed to live in harmony with everyone else and with the natural realm so we have never learned these skills and superior habits. Animals cannot control their survival instincts but they don’t need to. When animals extend themselves too far in the natural realm, another species reacts or natural occurrences take place to restore the normal balance. The time is coming and is now here when this is what will happen to our civilization. If we want to survive and enjoy life for many generations to come we have to learn to manage and control ourselves, our desires and our survival instincts.
Our civilization has encouraged us to become self-absorbed pleasure seekers, almost to think only of the next meal, next party and next football game. We have greatly extended our warning systems and the pool of knowledge available to us but we are so busy conducting the business of our day to day affairs and plans that we no longer pay attention to the warning systems; we no longer think anymore, not even objectively. Our civilization has reached its climax and it about to come crashing down, but the entire communication network, all our friends, family and more extensive teams are all so busy conducting the business of our day to day affairs that no one is paying attention. Even those we pay and rely on to watch the warning systems don’t want to give bad news for fear they will be replaced by others who give good news. Most people only want people who think positively not realistically, while we just do by habit what comes naturally. The more people we can find to think like us the more confident we become that we are right and there’s nothing to worry about; so we avoid and belittle all who disagree with us. But old habits will not help us when our civilization comes crashing down. Those who are not watching and remain unprepared will not survive the disasters. Only a few wise and well-prepared communities will survive.
