Essendon, Vic – Stephen Mocko, founder of Eureka Wellness, hopes to raise awareness within his community about alternative forms of medicines available.
A native of the USA, Stephen moved here last year after marrying an Australian. He has been busy since then continuing to put into practice his love of herbal medicine, starting a business called ‘Eureka Wellness’, named after his home town of Eureka, Montana.
Stephen offers home visits, travelling around the Moonee Valley region free of charge, and areas of Melbourne, Victoria, as well as visits to his home. ‘I feel that doctors’ offices and hospital visits can be quite intimidating for some people, and a real challenge for those who are really sick to get to. Visiting people in the comfort of their homes allows me to get to know them better and help them better,’ he said. ‘The price of mainstream medicine also makes it out-of-reach for many people, so it isn’t surprising that people are looking for other ways to help themselves get well.’
Stephen, always up for a challenge, specialises in care of the seriously ill, but also enjoys working with those just wanting to improve their health through cleansing and detoxing programs. ‘My aim is to use what nature has provided us with to get our bodies back to working how they are supposed to. Our lifestyles today are so different from what they were in the past. Not only are we more sedentary than in the past, but we are exposed to more toxins and chemicals than ever before: in the foods we eat, the air we breathe and the water we drink. The effects of this can be clearly seen in the surge in cancer and other diseases in the last few decades.
