Joaquin Guzman Lopez Also Arrested in El Paso, Texas
According to Zeta Tijuana, citing sources within the US government, Joaquin Guzman, one of “El Chapo’s” sons was also detained in Texas with “El Mayo.” More information on “El Mayo’s” arrest here.
US State Department officials informed the Tijuana weekly ZETA that at 2:00 p.m. on July 25, 2024, Joaquín Guzmán López, alias “El Güero Moreno”, 36 years old, son of the Sinaloa drug lord Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera, “El Chapo”, and member of “Los Chapitos”, “Los Menores” and/or “Los Chiquillos”, which also includes his brothers Iván Archivaldo and Jesús Alfredo Guzmán Salazar, “El Chapito” and “El Alfredillo”, as well as Ovidio Guzmán López, “El Ratón”, were arrested.
“El Güero Moreno,” 36 years old, was on the same plane as Ismael Zambada García, alias “El Mayo.” Both were arrested at one of the private airports in the border city of El Paso, Texas.
Without providing further information, U.S. State Department officials said the son of the Mexican drug lord, former leader of the Sinaloa cartel, was currently being prosecuted and that the capture had come as a surprise to U.S. authorities.
