Anantapur – Andhra Pradesh (Before It’s News – IC): Anantapur Rural DSP B Venkateshivareddy lauded the efforts of CI Venkatesh Naik and his team for successfully solving a series of gold jewelry thefts from RTC buses, leading to the arrest of the culprits and the recovery of stolen items worth Rs 7.1 lakh.

In a press conference held at the local police station on Saturday, DSP B Venkateshivareddy detailed the arrests of four individuals—Ganta Durga, Ganta Lalita, Mekala Durga, and Thota Lalita—who had been targeting women traveling in RTC buses in the rural areas of Anantapur district. The accused were caught by the Atmakuru police while stealing jewelry from a bus en route from Kalyanadurgam to Anantapur last Monday.

The police recovered gold jewelry worth Rs 7.1 lakh from the accused. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to committing thefts at several locations, including Atmakuru, Vidapanakal, Kalyanadurgam, and Kooderu police stations. Their arrest marks a significant breakthrough in curbing thefts in the region.
