Mala Community Leaders Meet CM Revanth Reddy: Urge Fair Classification And Economic Inclusion
In a significant meeting at the Telangana State Secretariat, legislators and leaders from the Mala community presented a series of demands and concerns to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, urging fair treatment and transparency in the classification of Scheduled Castes and the formation of a Mala Corporation.
-
Key demands and concerns raised
Telangana – Andhra Pradesh (Before It’s News – IC): During the meeting, legislators G Vivek, KR Nagaraju, Vamsikrishna, and Ragamai, along with other community leaders, highlighted several critical issues to the Chief Minister:
-
The leaders urged CM Revanth not to repeat the mistakes of former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, particularly regarding the mishandling of the classification issue.
-
They expressed concerns over false narratives being spread about the population statistics of the Mala and Madiga communities, stressing the need for accurate and scientific calculations of the economic, social, and welfare status of the SCs before any classification decisions are made.
-
The delegation strongly recommended that the cabinet sub-committee formed to address this issue should exclude individuals from the Mala and Madiga communities to ensure transparency. They proposed the formation of a committee with non-Dalit members to prevent bias.
-
One of the key demands was the creation of a Mala Corporation to better address the specific needs and challenges of the Mala community.
-
The leaders requested a comprehensive review of the Supreme Court judgment related to the classification issue, noting that the judgment, spanning 565 pages, does not explicitly mandate classification.
-
Chief Minister’s positive response
In response to these concerns, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy assured the delegation that a Cabinet sub-committee would be established to gather comprehensive reports and factual data on the issues raised. He emphasized the need for a thorough and inclusive discussion before making any decisions. The Chief Minister responded positively to the demands, indicating his commitment to addressing the concerns of the Mala community in a fair and transparent manner based on the factual evidence rather than political considerations, particularly on such a sensitive topic of classification of the community.
-
Broader political implications
The leaders also pointed out the political dynamics surrounding the issue, cautioning against the BJP’s attempts to politicize the classification debate. They reminded the Chief Minister that the Congress, under his leadership, came to power with the support of marginalized communities and urged him to continue to counteract BJP’s influence at every step.
The meeting saw the participation of key figures such as Sarvaiah, convener of the Anti-Classification Struggle Committee, and other prominent leaders including G Chennaiah, Pilli Sudhakar, Cheruku Ramchander, Dada Digambar Kamble, and Battula Ramprasad, Avulasudir, Janga Srinivas, Thallapally Ravi, Burgula Venkateshwarlu, Pilli Balaraju, Hassan, Manne Sriranga, Ramesh, Kanakaraju, Mantri Narsimha, Durgam Naresh and others. All were united in their call for justice and transparency in the handling of issues affecting the Mala community and They expressed hope that their concerns would be addressed transparently and fairly.
