Dalit Rights Groups Storm Kurnool Collectorate in Protest Against Rising Atrocities
Kurnool – Andhra Pradesh (Before It’s News – IC): Leaders from multiple Dalit and farmers’ organizations staged a protest at the Kurnool Collectorate, demanding justice for Dalit woman Madiga Govindamma. Led by Mala Mahanadu State General Secretary Mala Narasappa, along with senior leaders from various associations, the protesters called for immediate action to address the increasing atrocities against Dalits under the NDA coalition government.
- Call for District Collector’s visit to Dalit family
Protesters, including Emmiganuru JAC leader KM Hussainappa, Bharatiya Rythu Mazdur Sangham State Secretary K Prasad, Yosefu, IFTU District Secretary K Aniff and POL Chinna Prasad demanded that the District Collector visit Madiga Govindamma’s family. They emphasized that a visit would provide much-needed relief and ensure that the family’s concerns are addressed by the local authorities.
- Demands for Home Minister and SC Commission’s intervention
The leaders further demanded that the State Home Minister and the SC Commission visit the village to assess the ground reality. They argued that high-level intervention is essential to provide protection to Govindamma’s family and ensure that justice is served.
- United effort against injustice
Leaders of Mala Mahanadu, Bharatiya Rythu Mazdur Sangham, IFTU, and MRPS, among other public associations, participated in the protest. They called on Dalits across the state to unite and fight against the societal and systemic injustices they face under the current government. The protest marked a strong stance against the lack of protection and growing discrimination faced by Dalits in the region.
