SP Urges Public Support In Eradicating Anti-Social Activities In Kadapa District
Kadapa – Andhra Pradesh (Before It’s News – IC): District Superintendent of Police (SP) V Harshavardhan Raju has called on the public to cooperate with law enforcement to eliminate anti-social activities in the region. In a press statement released on Tuesday, the SP highlighted the results of intensive raids conducted over the past week, which led to the arrest of individuals involved in public drinking, gambling, sand smuggling, and the illegal sale of ganja and liquor. The SP emphasized that public support is crucial for achieving a crime-free Kadapa.
- Raids on public drinking and gambling
In a crackdown on public drunkenness, police patrols registered 610 cases last week against individuals found drinking in public places. In coordination with municipal and panchayat officials, areas where such activities were common were identified and cleared, with a focus on preventing unruly behavior. Additionally, 102 gamblers were arrested in 17 cases, and cash worth Rs. 1,51,230 was seized during these raids. SP Harshavardhan Raju stressed that these efforts are part of a broader initiative to maintain public order and safety.
- Helmetless riders fined
The district police registered Motor Vehicle Act cases against 1084 two-wheeler riders for not wearing helmets. Fines totaling Rs 1,46,340 were levied against the violators, reinforcing the importance of road safety and the need for compliance with traffic laws.
- Ganja sales raided
During raids on ganja sales, 4.3 kg of the illegal substance was seized. Eight cases were registered, and five individuals were arrested. The SP reiterated the district police’s commitment to curbing drug-related crimes, which have a harmful impact on society, especially the youth.
- Matka and illegal betting
In operations targeting matka organizers, 13 cases were registered, and 20 people were arrested. The police also seized Rs 3,15,250 in cash. Further, in a crackdown on illegal betting, nine people were apprehended for cock-fight betting, with Rs 9,200 confiscated. The police urged the public to report any such illegal activities to Dial 100, assuring that the identity of informants would be kept confidential.
- Sand smuggling and illegal liquor
Efforts to curb sand smuggling resulted in the arrest of 24 individuals and the registration of 11 cases. Police seized 106 tons of sand and 19 vehicles involved in illegal transportation. Additionally, 23.43 liters of illicit liquor were confiscated, and nine individuals were arrested in nine separate cases across the district.
- Commitment to a crime-free Kadapa
SP V Harshavardhan Raju has been actively leading the district’s efforts to create a crime-free Kadapa. In the last week alone, 158 individuals were bound over in 31 cases, and 59 rowdy sheeters received counseling, warning them to reform their behaviour. The SP called for collective action, emphasizing that the police are working tirelessly to dismantle anti-social networks, and public cooperation is essential for lasting success.
SP Raju urged citizens to take up their social responsibility by providing information about illegal activities such as matka, gambling, and betting. He assured that all reports would be handled discreetly and that informants’ identities would remain confidential, stressing that with the combined efforts of law enforcement and the public, a safer and crime-free Kadapa can be achieved.
