Call For Equal Dharma: DSMM National Leader Criticizes Sanatana and Caste System
Vijayawada – Andhra Pradesh (Before It’s News – IC): On the occasion of Dr. B R Ambedkar’s death anniversary, Dalit Soshan Mukti Manch (DSMM) national leader V Srinivasa Rao called for the eradication of the caste system and the promotion of equality in religion, urging people to reject the divisive Sanatana Dharma and embrace social justice.
Ambedkar as a beacon of social justice
Speaking at a commemoration event in Vijayawada, V Srinivasa Rao paid tribute to Ambedkar, emphasizing his lifelong struggle against caste-based inequalities. “Ambedkar stands as a witness to the fact that what society needs is not Sanatana Dharma but Sama Dharma,” he said, urging people to promote inter-caste marriages and confront caste discrimination and untouchability.
-
Sanatana Dharma perpetuates inequality
Rao criticized the perpetuation of the caste system under the guise of Sanatana Dharma, stating it falsely attributes sanctity to caste divisions. “This is a malicious attempt to strengthen the caste system, which is a grave disservice to Ambedkar’s vision,” he said.
He also highlighted disparities within religious institutions like TTD (Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams), accusing them of excluding Dalits from priesthood and temple sanctums. “Using TTD to create religious discord while denying Dalits equal rights within Hinduism is deeply hypocritical,” he added.
-
Targeting caste-based violence and honour killings
Rao condemned honour killings and questioned the sincerity of those who oppose inter-caste marriages. “Will they support or oppose violence against their own family members in the name of caste pride?” he asked, challenging those who claim to uphold equality within Hinduism.
Manuvadi culture threatens constitutional values
KVPS State General Secretary Andra Malyadri warned against the resurgence of Manuvadi ideology, which he said seeks to replace constitutional values with caste-based hierarchies. “Manuvadis aim to impose Manu culture over Ambedkar’s Constitution. We must resist this attack on democracy,” he urged.
He also called for the protection of public sector institutions and communal harmony. “Communal organizations exploit Hinduism to seize state power while perpetuating the oppression of marginalized castes and restoring feudal arrogance,” he said.
-
Protecting Ambedkar’s vision
Speakers at the event, including KVPS leaders G Nataraj, Chintala Srinivas, Shyambabu, DYFI State Secretary Ramanna and UTF State President Nakka Venkateswarlu, reiterated the importance of protecting the Constitution and opposing casteism. “Our goal is to safeguard the Constitution and eradicate caste discrimination,” they said.
-
A call for collective action
Rao concluded by emphasizing the need for a united fight against casteism and communalism. “It is everyone’s responsibility to expose and oppose forces that uphold caste-based inequalities,” he said, urging society to work towards a future of equal Dharma and social justice.
The event witnessed participation from numerous activists and leaders, including Dappu Artists Association State Secretary Kranthi, Sumamala President K Bhaskara Rao, and statue committee members R Shiva Rao, Shyam, Kranthi, Medikonda Subramaniam, who collectively pledged to continue Ambedkar’s fight for equality.
