CITU Seeks Resolution Of Pending Issues Of Proddatur Municipal Workers

Proddatur – Andhra Pradesh: CITU leaders met Proddatur Municipal Commissioner at his office on Monday to discuss long-pending problems faced by municipal and APCAS workers, urging immediate action on salary arrears, service benefits, and basic amenities.

Demand for pending salaries and wage hike

CITU representatives pointed out that Covid-19 frontline workers have not received salaries for the past two months. They urged the Commissioner to process the pending bills without delay. The leaders also demanded a wage increase of Rs 3,000 for the Covid workers to compensate for their efforts and rising living costs.

Appeal for basic facilities

The CITU team highlighted the lack of essential items such as coconut oil, soaps, slippers, and uniforms for workers. They demanded that these be supplied immediately to ensure basic hygiene and dignity at work.

The leaders expressed concern over the retirement issues faced by APCAS employees. They alleged that several workers were being retired prematurely due to incorrect data entries, while some who had actually reached 60 years were denied retirement benefits. They appealed to the Commissioner to verify and correct the records promptly in coordination with APCAS authorities in Vijayawada.

Call for compassionate appointments

CITU leaders requested that one family member of workers who have reached retirement age or died in service be provided jobs on compassionate grounds, citing the financial hardship of affected families.

Lack of tools and equipment

The municipal workers complained that they had not received new tools since last year. Due to official neglect, they have been forced to purchase tools and repair equipment at their own expense.

Warning of protest

Union leaders warned that if these long-pending issues are not addressed immediately, they would organize a large-scale dharna on 17.

Municipal Union Honarary President Satyanarayana, Town General Secretary Salman, Town President Chanti, Working President Vijay Kumar, Vice President Pramilamma, and members Ramadevi, Mohan, and Obaiah participated in the meeting.
