MPJ Expands SIR Help Desk Network, Opens Additional Centre To Assist Voters

Proddatur – Andhra Pradesh: To facilitate greater public participation in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls, the Movement for Peace and Justice (MPJ), in association with the IYM and the SIO, has decided to expand its voter assistance network by opening an additional help desk at Saida Street, Srinivasa Nagar. The decision was taken following a review of the existing centres and the growing demand for voter assistance.

• Five help desk centres already assisting voters

MPJ leaders stated that SIR help desk centres have been functioning from June 15 to July 14 at five locations across Proddatur—Jinnah Road, Penna Nagar, KHM Street, Bhagat Singh Colony, and Arts College Road—to assist citizens with the electoral roll revision process. The centres are helping eligible voters verify their electoral details and complete the required documentation under the Special Intensive Revision programme.

• Leaders review Penna Nagar help desk

As part of the ongoing review, MPJ State General Secretary Shaik Salim Basha, MPJ Rayalaseema In-charge Ayub Khan, and Town President Hussain Basha visited the Penna Nagar help desk centre on Tuesday to assess its functioning and interact with volunteers assisting the public.

• Additional centre to function on Sundays

Considering the limited time available for the SIR process and the need to reach more voters, the leaders decided to establish another help desk at Saida Street in Srinivasa Nagar. The newly established centre will function every Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., providing dedicated assistance to residents who are unable to visit during weekdays.

• Assistance with voter verification and enumeration forms

Volunteers at the new centre will help citizens verify their names in the 2002 electoral roll and assist them in filling and submitting enumeration forms required under the Special Intensive Revision process. MPJ leaders appealed to eligible voters to utilize the free assistance being offered and complete the required formalities before the revision deadline.

Among those present during the programme were MPJ Town Secretary Mohammed Rafi, member Alla Baksh, and several volunteers and local members who are actively supporting the voter awareness and assistance campaign.
