There is unrest and a complete breakdown of the rule of law in South Africa. That is why foreign nationals are being killed in the streets, their shops are being looted, and their shelters are being burned to ash. Five Mozambicans have been killed. Six Malawians have been killed. Hundreds of foreign nationals have been displaced — and some are still wandering in the bushes, with nowhere to go and no one coming for them.

There is no political will to stop this violence. There is no political will to dismantle this organised campaign of hatred. The South African government watches. It hesitates. It appeases. And people die.

“It does not make sense to continue allowing marches that result in deaths, the looting of tuckshops, and the burning of shelters belonging to foreign nationals.”

South Africa must declare a state of emergency and deploy the military into the streets — targeting every hotspot of violence with the full force of a state that still believes in law, in life, and in civilisation.

Bloodthirsty. Armed. Lawless.

The anti-immigrant groups terrorising this country are not protesters. They are armed with hatred and violence. They have lost all common sense. They are waging war on the most vulnerable people in Southern Africa — and they are being allowed to continue.

If there is more bloodshed of foreign nationals, the South African economy is going to be destroyed — not weakened, destroyed — forever. And the government will find itself unable to restrain the very lawlessness it allowed to grow in its silence.

History is unforgiving on this point: societies and countries that are cruel to their most vulnerable members face complete collapse. This is not prophecy. It is a pattern written across every continent and every century.

“Today it is a war against foreigners. Tomorrow it will be a war against other tribes. And finally it will be a war against Boers and the white minority.”

The behaviour of attacking and killing foreigners will not create a single job. It will not improve the life of a single South African. Every business looted, every family displaced, every life ended — these are wounds inflicted on South Africa itself.

Three Actions. No More Delay.

• Ban the marches that are inciting and producing violence
• Stop the anti-immigrant rhetoric that is fuelling the killing
• Jail the instigators who are directing this campaign of terror

If action is not immediately taken, South Africa is fast becoming a failed state. Not on a trajectory toward failure — it is arriving there now, in real time, measured in bodies and burned shelters and hundreds of human beings hiding in bushes because they fear for their lives.

Appeasing the wicked and violent anti-foreign groups is not going to help anyone. It is not compromise. It is not pragmatism. It is the heralding of the collapse of South African civilisation.

This Is Not Neutral Ground

No one who claims to stand for human rights, democracy, or decency can remain neutral while people are being murdered in the streets for the crime of being foreign. Silence is a choice. Neutrality in the face of massacre is complicity.

It is Cry the Beloved South Africa.

To the Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa,

I write to you as a matter of extreme urgency regarding the ongoing and escalating attacks against foreign nationals on South African soil. Five Mozambican nationals and six Malawian nationals have been killed. Hundreds more have been displaced, with some currently sheltering in open bushland — exposed, frightened, and without humanitarian support.

The rule of law has broken down. Anti-immigrant groups, emboldened by political inaction, are conducting what can only be described as organised campaigns of violence, looting, and terror against vulnerable foreign communities. Their marches are producing deaths. Their rhetoric is producing corpses. And the government’s silence is producing a failed state.

I urge Your Excellency, in the strongest possible terms, to convey to the Government of the Republic of South Africa the following demands: that a state of emergency be declared in affected areas; that the South African National Defence Force be deployed immediately to hotspots of violence; that anti-immigrant marches calculated to incite violence be banned; and that the organisers and instigators of these attacks be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

South Africa’s standing in the world — its economy, its democracy, its claim to be a beacon of ubuntu and post-apartheid reconciliation — is being destroyed by this violence. History will judge harshly those who had the power to stop the massacre of the vulnerable and chose instead to appease the mob.

I call upon you to act. I call upon you to speak. I call upon you to ensure that the most defenceless people on South African soil are protected — not tomorrow, but now.
